It could be but New York doesn't look like it was rebuilding from the Battle of New York. That was in 2012 and four years is not enough time even with the proper resources to repair the damage to buildings, roads, and more. Imagine the time and cost to correct the damage to Sokovia and an entire S.H.I.E.L.D. building coming down.

There is also the issue that
[Show spoiler]Rhodes fell to the ground in Germany, he would have been transported to a hospital there or Ramstein Air Base's military hospital.

Ok, but what event in
[Show spoiler]Iron Man 2
made you think that the phone call was referencing something in that movie? (Honest question, I don't like that movie so it's been a while since I've seen it.) The 15-minute preview last night
[Show spoiler]mentioned The Avengers so it must at least be after the first one, but the implication in that line was that The Avengers have averted multiple threats (it's the line about how The Avengers handle certain problems while The Ancient One and her disciples protect the Earth against more supernatural threats, I can't remember the exact line).

The "Hammertech" armor in Iron Man 2 appeared to break the spine of the guy in the suit. At the hearing when Stark was showing failed attempts to copy his armor.
Could that be what they are referencing?

Hope so, as setting it anywhere after The Winter Soldier will throw up a rather awkward continuity error.
[Show spoiler]This being the piece where Agent Sitwell spills the beans that SHIELD have been keeping tabs on Stephen Strange.

In fairness to Marvel, The Winter Soldier was in production before they came out with the "no more origin stories" policy, one they have broken for Doctor Strange, and are going to again with the breaking announcement that the upcoming Captain Marvel will be another origin tale.

This is what my wife and I instantly thought of when that line of dialogue hit.

They could just say that they were keeping tabs on him while he was a surgeon, because he was very anti HYDRA or something.

!!! When this happened, any shred of doubt I may have had about this movie was instantly wiped away. To have that kind of scene in a relatively mainstream movie... wow! I think this film might end up being a bit divisive because of things like that but I can't wait.

Regarding my free IMAX ticket, I was at a Regal theatre and someone named Matt was facebook live streaming from our theatre in Irvine CA. It seemed like this was some type of event. This guy is involved with various Regal Social Media projects on youtube and their website from what I understand. They announced the special collector tickets you'll be able to get for seeing Doctor Strange at a Regal IMAX (I'm assuming like the recent Jugle Book and Alice tickets). At the end of everything, they gave everyone in attendance the free ticket. If I remember correctly, this was a collaboration of IMAX and Regal.

What's kinda funny but kinda sad is there were two people next to me who booked it right after it was over, so they didn't get the tickets or poster. Guess they were in a hurry.

But in TWS
[Show spoiler]Sitwell says that the algorithm tells them who's a current threat and also a future one, so it doesn't necessarily mean that it takes place before TWS. It'd be interesting if they did go back in time like that, but I'm not sure it's confirmation at this point.

Dang if I paid $14 in Tolls, I could have gotten the IMAX ticket.

Wait? That would be financially stupid. I drive to the closest one to me, 30mins roundtrip at most, no traffic & no tolls.

I can use that $14 to "upgrade" the Regal tickets I bought at Costco to IMAX instead.

For that price you're really just getting the preview, but then all the time you're spending is a cost also. The IMAX ticket was completely a surprise too; there's no way you would know without insider info.

Buddy I went with was convinced that the preview event would end up being a surprise screening of the entire movie. Sigh, if only...

It has probably been inserted into an earlier point in the MCU. If not, HYDRA would have been keeping tabs on Strange merely for being a grumpy surgeon, the baddies possessed of an algorithm able to predict car-crashes which set people on spiritual paths to becoming Sorcerer Supreme.

Let's hope insurance companies don't get hold of it...

In his defense, this was the first time he went to one of these. Just happened to be in town for the long weekend.

Also, Fox did that exact thing earlier this year, and surprised fans with a full screening of the film, instead of just a preview as the event was announced. It was a ton of fun.

Damn you Himmel!

Question becomes: Cheaper to buy the posters 3rd party or join AMC stubs members?

I've always managed to grab AMC IMAX posters for less than $10 on eBay a few weeks after the movie drops. There's still some from 2013 on the site for decent prices.
