Ha I am in the same boat, just went to Best Buy today and grabbed Kingsman and The Martian, they weren't out on the floor at all(for that matter any of the three Best Buys I went to today) and had them in the back, sounds like they where holding out to put them on the floor until they reset everything for the new releases on Tuesday.I am probably going to pick up a 4K TV in the next few weeks thanks to the Taxman and then the player in a month or two.Until then will still buy some of the 4K release that really interest me like Sicario,X-Men ![]() |

I was able to pickup the movies at the best buy in McKinney. Service was very helpful, I called ahead and the gentlemen that I spoke to wrote down which ones that I wanted and took them to customer service desk waiting for me to get there. They were also not on the shelves.

I was going in there just to see if they did have the display up, take a pic, show my Distrcit Manager to forward to the higher ups to pretty much show them that they're dropping the ball on 4K by communicating literally jack shit about it-- Moviestop/Hastings. I'm optimistic that our trade deals should go for it and can give members here who have a Moviestop a great way to get into 4K for cheap, but we have no inbound shipments, only 4 March 1st titles in system not set for reserve... Ugh. It's just kind of aggravating that they're not doing much at all. |

heres a good one....
"To put things in perspective, I just moved my 75X940C into my theater room and sold my 4K projector because the HDR experience is what makes 4K BD worth it. I couldn't see much gain in resolution even on my 110" screen and was sorely disappointed when the overall picture quality was almost indistinguishable from a 1080p BD disc. Now I know how people who don't have an HDR set feel. As soon as I played the same material on my TV both my friend and I exclaimed "Wow!". That was the moment I was looking for and confirmation that 4K BD is a next-gen format." sold his projector, moved 940c to theater room, will be buying all the 4k HDR blu rays he can lol Like ive been saying (along with some of the pros like stacey spears and joe kane), HDR is the real game changer. 4k is just along for the ride. |

The ITU broadcast HDR document was approved earlier this month and it will be voted on later this year. A HEVC proposal was recently posted for it:
Transfer function: Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) or SMPTE 2084 (PQ) Range: Narrow range or Full range (The computer industry has been using Full range for 20+ years but I think this is the first broadcast standard to support it.) Color formats: RGB, non-constant luminance YCbCr, and ICtCp (I have never heard of ICtCp and it looks like they just made it. Also they removed constant luminance YCbCr). |

I saw Deadpool on the biggest screen at my movie theater, 3rd row, and usually, most films look kind of soft at that distance, but this one looked really sharp to the point where I thought "this is definitely a 4K DCP" (4K projector too), so which is it?

I just got the Samsung UBD-K8500 player and two of the UHD movies to try it out on my LG 65EF9500. Am I reading it correct that I should turn off Deep color on both the player and tv for now?

Turning off Deep Color resulted in significant banding and visual artifacts for me. Deep Color on provided the best overall PQ and HDR effect. Are you on the latest firmware? |

It depends what tv u have. On samsungs, I recommend deepcolor off until samsung fixes it. On the lg oled, a user posted pictures and it definitely looked like deepcolor options on for both was the best way to go! |
