I saw those videos a while ago thanks, although it's strange that you're championing a viewpoint which basically says K's don't matter given how you've been ragging on stuff being being shot in "HD" and stating that 35mm is 6K etc. I guess it didn't matter after all, eh?

Apparently, at least in its limited release, Phantom Thread will only be available in 70mm or 4K digital at Paul Thomas Anderson's insistence. No D.I. either, they blew up the 35mm camera negative for a 65mm interpositive instead.

Proud Mary was shot at 4k mostly on a consumer grade Sony A7S II using Panavision Primo lenses to cover the full frame sensor (with an F55 for some of the action scenes). Nice to see it got a full 4k workflow.

If it's [i]my[i] yardstick? I'm not the one who dismissed other movies as "HD" saying that film was 6K before undergoing a Damascene conversion and saying that "K's are not really the most important thing at all". You sure you haven't got a touch of whiplash bruv?

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, there is no D.I. either. Rather FotoKem blew up the 35mm negative and it used a 65mm/70mm I.P.

35mm is 6K. But you can make any film or HD video movie look terrible regardless of K. K is not the only measure of a picture. But the insistance on K being an important factor for others to judge the "quality" of an image goaded me into simply expressing that film has always had higher K.
I, myself, don't use that as a measurement for quality. Film having more K than digital for the last 20 years was simply a factual statement.

You'd be lucky to pull 4K from the average 35mm negative (but SCANNING at 6K or higher is recommended due to Nyquist et al) and a release print is somewhere around 2K, but carry on.

Was wondering because a theater where I live is showing a 4k restoration of the film.

I don't do streaming but I'm seriously considering dropping the £7.99 that amazon are asking for the 4K streaming version once my internet is upgraded in about a week's time.

Get an Apple 4K TV.

It's about as good as you can get for streaming, IMO.
