They think people are stupid. For the most part they're probably right lol

Not the 1st 2k upscale to feature softness over its BD counterpart. But this has more softness running time and it sticks out since the BD has reference quality sharpness/detail for BD.

Like, its whole, "really soft despite ugly edge-enhancement," thing, felt like I was watching something on my old 720p TV!
As ray mentioned there are some that mention the softness but overall, expert (as well as user) reviews can be hit or miss. When I started reviewing my own discs for PQ (just as an amateur during my spare time) it was surprising to see how often those reviews missed the mark (for anime in particular). I love to nitpick every frame but noticeable issues such as Oblivion's UHD BD softness shouldn't be hard to miss.

So I'm confused - is the digital 'Dolby Vision' version the same that's on the UHD,or are they separate different masters??

We haven't got DV on UHD disc yet, so by definition the streaming DV versions are different masters to the HDR10 versions seen on disc thus far.

Perhaps they are fixing the issues that have been reported in the US version.

If that's the case maybe they will have a disc replacement program for the people that already own it.

So were there errors with this disc, or only in certain regions?

Has anybody bought both the US and UK versions and compared the PQ? I have the USA version and it's definitely softer than the standard Blu-ray.

Seeing as Lone Survivor US was literally the exact same disc as the UK one (right down to the ratings logos on the disc art!) I don't think that the UK Oblivion will be in any way different.
