^ There you go, they did the plates in 4K for the oversampling, i.e. that they could reframe, stabilise etc and still get a high-res 2K extraction from it. And he quite clearly says that the renders, as in the actual final output of the VFX, was in 2K, so unless Universal are going to go back and re-render vast swathes of VFX then the UHD will have 2K upscaled effects, if not a complete upscale from start to finish.

Universal does not offer UHD copies at any online source right now. Hopefully that will change soon.

Man. If this had the IMAX ratio, I'd probably make the jump. As it stands ...

This is one of the rare Tom Cruise movies that I didn't really care for, but as far as eye candy goes it's practically peerless among recent movies, so if/when the price drops to a reasonable level I'll consider getting it. Shame about it not being 1.90:1 throughout, though.

Agreed. That would have made me double-dip. Now, I'll wait and see if this one gets a significant price-drop down the line...

If you're asking whether or not the digital copies provided with these releases will be in UHD, no one knows at this time. I'm sure someone will test out the codes after they are released.

Neither does Lionsgate, but their UHD releases will add a UHD copy to your UV locker for the future when an online source does.

I just wish this movie was better and more substantive. It's a slick, shiny, yet ultimately forgettable exercise in Hollywood syfi.

The fact the FSK-12 logo is removable, it could be a Steelbook. Or that new "collectible packaging" is allowing to remove the sticker as well.

Yes. I placed an order for Oblivion and Lucy and I will cancel my order from Barnes and Noble. The Amazon price is a little lower than what I paid at B&N.
