Yep, blame the South Africans for that. I don't mind a bit of biltong though.

From a very young age, I had always desired to play some *mobile* team sport 1st string, at a Varsity level, at major University. It became apparent that although I was quicker and had more endurance than most, I would never be tall enough to be real good at basketball, not big enough to be real good at football (American), and baseball just bored me to death because it wasn’t exactly what I considered ‘mobile’.

Ergo….the genetic path led me soccer and meeting this inspiring figure (when he was still relatively in his prime) helped a lot in pursuing the personal goals I’d set for myself…. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...le#post7806282

After all was said and done, the toughest thing wasn’t really playing soccer at University level, but juggling that sporting activity with off road racing and my studies to give them the attention they deserved because I knew in my heart I could never make a career out of the former two. Anyway, I think the reason for those Americans who don’t appreciate soccer is because they never played it at a young age, so they really are clueless to its nuances….the skills , the strategy , the one v. one battles on the field, etc.

Back from our morning ride, now time for ManU vs Spurs, Peter.

In case you weren't aware Penton, Rooney's goal celebration is in reference to him getting KTFO by Phil Bardsley in an impromptu boxing bout at Rooney's home.

maybe. But then again, I played soccer from a young age and all the way through high school, lettering as a sophomore until I graduated and becoming starting goalkeeper as a junior. It was fun, to play, one day I might even join a rec league or something if I have the spare time. But even when I was playing it every day I was never a "fan." Watching soccer just bores me to tears. I gave it an earnest effort when i was stationed in England for three years while in the military. But even that didn't take.

That's fair enough. There are a fair few sportspeople who love what they do but wouldn't dream of actually watching it as a pastime, and the same goes for actors. Last thing some of them would want to do is sit down and watch a movie.

Thanks. I had no idea what the heck that post goal celebration was about, but I do know that Phil B.’s wife is a Hottie.

I can see that point of view also; however, just wondering if you spent much time playing the sport as a field player rather than a keeper? I think goalkeepers’ have a rather unique job and outlook on the sport to begin with. I kind of think of them as anesthesiologists…..working through hours and hours of utter boredom punctuated by fleeting moments of high stress.

I’m interested in your future schedule in comparison to the other potential relegation candidates. Why are you so sure your team will be going down? Last I looked you're still barely out of the bottom 3, no?

Another example of Netflix being ahead of the curve in comparison to some other studios and content providers, e.g. Marco Polo 4K HDR, scroll down to the paragraph starting with “Certainly that was the view of the content providers…”
http://www.wifihifi.ca/LatestNewsHea...HUHDATCES.html

Although Netflix is primarily known as a ‘streaming company’, which may have negative connotations on a physical media forum like this where highest quality reigns supreme , I can tell you that last year, Sony presented Netflix a show/motion picture content which had been shot with an Arri Alexa and not finished in 4K….and Netflix nixed it, because their delivery requirement was 4K and they felt they couldn’t represent that particular project to the public as 4K content.

Disclosure: I am a Netflix shareholder and the family still owns a comparatively small amount of SNE stock.

I can certainly see your point. I was a midfielder for many years before I tried my hand at goalkeeping in high school though. I was actually much better as a keeper than I ever was on the field, it was much more natural for me, I have excellent reflexes and a ready willingness to get hit in the face.

Maybe my time as a keeper though did influence why I look down so much on field players who flop around like they're dying every time they stub their toe. No room for that nonsense in the box.

Sometimes I think that pics like this http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/ue65j...1503154027.htm are included as a conspiracy just to entice me to read further down in a consumer TV review….

“We reacquainted ourselves with several short HDR-remastered clips of Life of Pi and Exodus: Gods and Kings, and the impact still blew us away. We had originally feared that blacks would wash out severely on an edge-lit LED LCD to fulfil the extreme brightness demands of HDR (high dynamic range) material, but that proved not to be the case.

We ran the UE65JS9000 (playing the Life of Pi HDR snippet) side-by-side against a now-defunct-but-still-considered-reference Panasonic ZT plasma (displaying the Blu-ray version), taking care to calibrate both screens to 120 cd/m2 peak white. There’s simply no contest even from fifteen feet away: the combination of super-high resolution, punchier whites, greater gradation and increased detail (not only in the highlights but also in shadowed areas) made the ZT look noticeably muted and softer by comparison. So powerful was this onslaught of resolution, contrast and detail to our visual senses that we weren’t even aware of the UE-65JS9000′s on-paper weaker blacks versus the plasma.”

Note to Vincent Teoh:
I’ve gotten thru all of Chelsea v. PSG in Champions match and despite me always rooting for an English-based club in such competition, I was actually happy PSG won because of the theater the Chelsea players put on the referee regarding the Ibrahimovic tackle which drew a red card.
And wouldn’t you like to be a fly on the wall during the grading of middle, 2nd row....http://www.company3.com/work/features/
