Bruce, this virus is so new that even the health scientist experts diverge sometimes in their opinion. I agree with you that we need several opinions, not just one. They learn (experts) as they go, every single day for the last six months or so. They'll know more by Christmas, and so will we.

One thing is for sure; half million people are gone and more tomorrow ...
I believe that 60-70% of the global population will get infected by COVID-19 and hope for the best and prepare for the worst. It's a new life might as well adapt to it now.
New type of jobs will be created, safer jobs, the rich working for the poor and elderly ...

Today, the only restrictions I have to deal with are wearing a mask when I enter a store and no longer going out for dinner. That one I do miss greatly. But at the same time I am no longer spending money on out to dinners and instead putting said money into our weekly food budget - about $45 a week. We are eating much better and more healthy dinners. Maybe a "roll-your-own" once every two weeks as opposed to every other night prior to the Pandemic. The freezer and pantry are always full now.

They still haven't had the local health inspectors come to our complex to inspect our pools and hot tubs. THAT we miss the most of all.

If that's the worst I have to suffer as far as inconvenience . . . I'll take it with a BIG smile.

You were right Bruce; another low number's day for a Monday.

Lee, I got you regarding food...same here. What used to go in restaurants now go to the farmer market (vegetables, bread, eggs, ...) and to the meat chopper store (sausages and cheeses, ...).
The fridge is cranked to the max in hot days...level 9.

as are hospitalizations, which are nothing to dismiss even if you are not in ICU but rather on a general med/surg ward due to COVID-19

thing is, improved/refined medical management (Remdesmir, convalescent plasma, perhaps Dex) in hospital should, over time, help with declining the death rate, but they will do nothing to the rate of being hospitalized in the first place

I just hope people from other states won't come here to NY and cause our infection rate to skyrocket again. Barbershops finally opened up today so I can finally get a proper haircut. I'll probably get one over the weekend if it's not too crowded. But it might be, so might have to wait another week or two...

In a surprise move, 2020 Balloon Fiesta (Oct 3 to Oct 11) has been cancelled. It's the largest balloon gathering event in the world. Over 750,000 people attend over the eight day timeframe. It also brings in about $170+ million in revenue for Albuquerque. Instead of compromising the event by having less balloons and less spectators, they decided to just cancel it.

Smart anticipated move. They'll be enough "ballooning" in the USA (in the world) by then, I think.

More Young People Are Testing Positive For COVID-19, Particularly In The South

Quote:
Over the last week, officials in Florida, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina have reported an uptick in COVID-19 cases among people in their 20s and 30s. In Florida, where the total case count surpassed 100,000 on Monday, the median age for coronavirus victims went from 65 at the beginning of March to 36 last week, according to the Florida Department of Health.
Quote:
Not only are they testing positive because they’re testing more, they’re also testing positive at a higher rate, increasingly over the last week,” he said of these younger individuals. “That’s evidence that there’s transmission within those communities, particularly the 20s and 30s.
Quote:
At a news conference Thursday, he attributed this rise to activity at bars and restaurants, particularly over Memorial Day weekend, and warned that these establishments could have their licenses suspended if they don’t adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.

“There have been pictures that I have seen and others have seen about these bar-type settings where clearly the standards are not being followed,” he said.
Quote:
Dr. C. Wendell James III, the chief clinical officer for Prisma Health – Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina, stressed that younger people may believe themselves to be resistant to the disease, but it can carry far more health implications than they realize.

It can have effects on kidneys, liver, lungs, heart ― and we don’t know how permanent that is going to be,” he told Greenville News.

Sure, but that's not the point. The point is how quickly, visually, you can see COVID-19 overtake some of the causes of death that we all are familiar with hearing about - alcohol, drugs, homicide, suicide, fire.

But at the rate things are spiking back up, maybe there will be some new additions to that graph like heart attacks or cancer as it overtakes even bigger causes of death.

Not surprising, I mean what did people expect when you allow tens of thousands of people to gather during a pandemic?

It probably won’t get to us until August, considering the way Congress is dragging their feet and taking yet another vacation the first 2 weeks of July.

This whole phase 2 reopening in NYC is weird. Some stores like Old Navy, Party City and Five Below are open for shopping but limit the amount of people that can go in. But stores like Best Buy and PC Richards is still limited to curbside pickup only. I'm so confused...

Makes sense. The average age overall in the U.S. is 38. It's 36 for covid because a higher percentage of Hispanics are getting it and they on average are 10 years younger (around 28).

When it was 65 (at the beginning of March) there were only a couple of cases. It dropped to about 52 a few weeks later when sites like Worldmeters started tracking it.

Tony Fauci now testifying in front of a committee….would be interesting if someone would ask with regards to a future coronavirus vaccine, specifically, what will be considered acceptable efficacy (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...y#post17752860 )
30%, 40%, 50%, etc. in order to receive approval to distribute

All places I go; grocery stores, banks, drugstores, car dealers, hospitals, optometrists, dentists, superstores, shoestores, audio dealerships, video stores, music stores...analog, farmets markets, meat markets, cheeze markets, French bread markets, wine stores, etc., etc., etc. ...they all have hand sanitizer bottles @ their entrances, with a noozle you press on top.

Now this ...
Toxic methanol that causes blindness found in hand sanitizers, FDA warns

And as a matter of fact I have two irritated eyes that started about ten days ago. I mean bloody red and swollen and itchy. I could take a pic but you get the idea. I just read the article this morning, just too many things to keep up with, not enough time for important stuff easily passed under the blanket.

Anyway, something else to watch for, as it can kill! Check the specific products mentioned in the above article and next time you're in town shopping for whatever look @ the sanitizer label @ the entrances.

FDA has identified the following products manufactured by Eskbiochem:

• All-Clean Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-002-01)
• Esk Biochem Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-007-01)
• CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-008-04)
• Lavar 70 Gel Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-006-01)
• The Good Gel Antibacterial Gel Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-010-10)
• CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-005-03)
• CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-009-01)
• CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-003-01)
• Saniderm Advanced Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-001-01)

This is toxic methanol those brands, it can blind you, your kids, and I think it's made in Mexico.

By the way Mexico can hardly keep up; the incinerators and the cemeteries.
