the image is so clear - it gives a faux 3D look to the film - it's outright startling.

Actually, it’s EFILM (no hyphen) and I’d say that it would be more accurate to estimate that 90% of major studio pictures (if they're done in Los Angeles) are essentially all finished in one of three facilities: EFILM, Company 3 and TCS (http://www.technicolor.com/en/hi/cre...ood/our-people ).

Of course, there are several other players, any of whom can do a good job also.

The difference between the two (based on caps) certainly looks more than some of the titles examined back and forth here before, like Transformers BD compared to the earlier HD DVD. Cue the caps of Spidey with the suit texture and the eye.

Same goes for other titles apparently, like Angels and Demons..

These are two different frames so the comparison is not valid.

This is not the first time I have seen this in these comparisons. It seems like it is never the same frame.

That's why I use caps-a-holic or make my own using screenshot comparison. Here are two I made recently from Zulu to prove that the U.K. disc is superior to the U.S. disc:

UK looks like it has better compression but it also looks like the white's are clipped.

But the colors are more accurate on the U.K. release and the U.S. release is far too dark.

I was just looking at the screenshot comparisons from Battle:Los Angeles...Is it me...or does the regular blu-ray shots look clearer than the 4K blu-ray!!

Is that because it's downconverted to 1080P? It seems weird that it wouldn't be as clear & sharp!?!?

Here's a screenshot comparison. Notice in the NON-4K shot...you can see the pores next to his nose. And to me....the whole image just looks clearer!!

I wouldn't pixel-peep this site's screencaps, taken 2 years apart. They're not the same frame, they have very different levels of lossy JPEG compression, and who knows what else.
