“Also, film is higher resolution,” he adds. “To capture all the resolution of an anamorphic 35mm image, you need a scan somewhere between 8K and 12K. So while everyone brags about 4K cameras and scans, we’re shooting on, effectively, a 10K camera. Why replace that with an inferior technology?"

Mind the 10K camera what I earlier said. But seems 35mm has been development over the years.

6k leaves nothing on the table for 35mm, this is just a numbers game from film diehards

Big Trouble in Little China.

Last Paragraph: http://www.indeed.com/me/Tony_Catanese?sp=0

I did say previously that BTILC did look like it came from a 4K master.

Long requested by fans, the coming-of-age family favorites MY GIRL and TROOP BEVERLY HILLS will finally be available for the first time on Blu-ray Mar. 17 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Both films will be available separately and have been fully restored at 4K resolution for a pristine high-def experience on Blu-ray, making this the ideal way to re-visit these heart-warming and hilarious cinematic touchstones. Each film also includes all-new bonus features and Digital HD with UltraViolet.

Wally Pfister is just pulling numbers out of thin air.

By the time film has been processed and duped, resolution has been degraded significantly.

"The immigrant" with Marion Cotillard and Joaquin Phoenix, also shot in 35 mm anamorphic JDC Scope and TechnoVision (Arricam LT and ST) and mastered in 4K proves however much more serious in terms of image sharpness with magnificent highlighted and staged very neat, and bring a real plus in 4K projection.
