This definitely wasn't terrible but it kinda failed to hold my interest during the second half for whatever reason, I'd say it was okay overall

Just checked it out and it wasn't too bad. It had like an alien nation, underworld, last witch hunter type of vibe. Would check out the sequel when it comes out now that its been announced. 3 outa 5 for me. Could be worse could be better. Could time waster.

Hated Suicide Squad and didn't find this much better. Thought it would be a fun movie but it really wasn't. Interesting idea at least. Might be interested in a sequel with a better writer and director. Least it was free.

I enjoyed this. I think there's a whole lot of room to build on in that "world." I'd rather see a series (8 episodes or so) than a sequel.

I think one of the main issues it had was that it had too much stuff going on.

Orcs, elves, fairies, dragons, magic, dark lord, etc.

I think they should've left the elves out of it and just focused on the humans vs. orcs dynamic plus jacoby being on the outside of his own peeps and whatnot.

I didn't hate the movie though. Will watch a sequel if they do one.

I'm not much a Will Smith fan and I'm indifferent to David Ayer or Max Landis. That said, I watched Bright tonight and I am absolutely at a loss as to what the critics are talking about? Worst film of 2017? Are you kidding me? I've seen so much crap over the last twelve months way worse than this. Of course, these critics are the same folks who gave The Last Jedi a 92% so there you go...

Anyway, I thought it was really enjoyable and that the world they created felt complete (if under-explained) and genuinely lived-in. It's not saying much but it's by far the best thing I've ever seen Will Smith in (closely followed by the MiB films and Enemy of the State).

Personally, I'm looking forward to the sequel. There's a lot of material to work with here.

Bright was meh. Overlong and corny. The actors did their best with this lame script. Some dialogues were awful. Noomi Rapace was wasted in this film.

Yeah... this things pretty cool.

I also think it works w/ all the crap thrown into it. It's a lot but it's also dropping you into a world that isn't yours and just gives as much information as you need for the chaotic nature that it is. Pretty solid for me. This shouldn't work but it does.

It was enjoyable.

Lord of the Rings meets Harry Potter Meets The Warriors with a pinch of Escape from New York

Well, this didn’t have the huge editing fiasco imposed upon it like Suicide Squad, so it has the advantage of being a properly professionally structured film. And Will Smith gave a genuinely respectable leading action hero performance - you can still see why he is (was?) such a box office star.

But all of the writing, from the offensively bad premise (and I just mean offensive in how bad it is, not racially offensive... although some of that’s questionable, too. From “fairy lives don’t matter” to their depiction of Latinos, it’s at least cringey if not genuinely problematic), to the awkward punch-in of flacid one-liners and inane social commentary, I can see how it’s earning the rep of worst film of the year. Cliches, formulas, ex machinas, macguffins, lame CGI, simplistic childrens movie writing combined with hard R violence and nudity, a lead actor struggling to speak and act through a cheesy mask... it has all the elements of a trainwreck alright.

Honestly, it’s like somebody was making a comedy pitch for some podcast or Youtube video parodying Hollywood blockbuster schlock, but then a studio got hold of it and filmed it. It’s unbelievable that such overtly bad ideas passed through every stage to reach post production.

But because of all that, being a glossy big budget disaster, it makes it a perversely intriguing watch. I jumped on watching this just like I watched all six episodes of Inhumans. It’s like the major studio equivalent of The Room or Birdemic, amusing in the same way. I was shaking my head and laughing when
[Show spoiler]all the orcs showed up behind the cops in their hockey jerseys and did the blood salute for events they didn’t even witness, predictably ressurected the orc cop 1 second after killing him, or made the shockingly insulting Rodney King references.
There’s a real, “wow, this exists?!” factor that makes it strangely recommendable for this with a certain mindset.

Yup. Felt like it was written by a 13 year old who's trying to be edgy.

Everyone was blaming WB for butchering Suicide Squad, but either way the result would have been the same.

Despite having all that stuff, I actually thought they needed MORE of the fantasy elements. They may have existed but the story didn't talk about any of it really. They had so much backstory and mythology to work on but it boiled down to race relations with species instead of skin color. Way too much police/shoot out stuff happening and didn't go into ANY detail about the Brights and the wand other than only a Bright can hold a wand. Plus, while I have no problem with language, it just seemed like they wanted to hear them cuss as much as possible for no reason other than for them to say it.

All in all, it wasn't bad but it's not necessarily good either. Just perfect middle. If they do more then I'll watch them and hope for some actual fantasy elements to happen... or at least not rely so heavily on stereotypical cop/dirty cop tropes.

I think this would have done better as a Netflix series instead of a Netflix film. Had it been a series, they can hash things out better, give backstory and develop upon the fantasy aspects. Having to make it fit into a movie time limit, which also felt like it was too long and also too short at the same time, didn't help at all.

Bad Boys meets The Fifth Element meets Lord of the Rings

A lot more boring than it sounds... I'm guessing this director will never create anything on par with Fury.

I saw the movie. I don't think I minded how he showed latinos.Unless I don't remember. He showed a good cop, that family, and the gang bangers. Which all ended up dead. Unless that's what the iffy nature of it was for ya.
