People want best video quality, best audio quality, multiple cuts of the movie, nice packaging, all extras possible in the world. Do the same people complain about the price of the movie? It seems a lot of people want everything perfect but the price better be lower than 20 dollars?

Don't know about others, but when all that comes together just right I'm more than willing to fork over top dollar.

HAHA so true.

Or if they wait months or even years for a bargain price, they expect first-run perks like slips to be included, and in mint condition of course.

If I could get my most wanted movies on blu ray, the price wouldn't be an issue at all. I mean, it's not going to cost $100 for a single blu ray. But some here are willing to pass on a release they otherwise would want for a long time until the price lowers by $5. 5 measly bucks!

I'd imagine it would eventually...but usually Warner releases tend to be region-free anyway, so I'd think that you could simply import the US edition.

There is a listing on Amazon UK for ETD, but it's coming out in April rather than June. It'd be a huge slap in the face to UK residents if Warner just re-released the old transfer in April, but they've done similar things with Casablanca and other movies too.

I think UK is only getting the old disc repackaged with Ultraviolet.

Yup, it's the existing disc with an ultraviolet copy. I did get this quote from Warner Bros. though:

"We are releasing Enter the Dragon on 15th April as part of a range of 40 titles fantastic titles to celebrate Warner Bros. 90th anniversary. This will use the existing Blu-ray master and will also contain UV and a new O-ring packaging."

"Later on in the year, there will be a chance for the fans to own a 40th anniversary of Enter the Dragon, which will be an ultimate collector’s edition on Blu-ray, released with the new master, new packaging and all new content. We’re really looking forward to revealing more details on it soon!"

Looks like we're definitely getting a new HD master. There's going to be more details about the set announced soon as well.

Well, I for one am excited about a remastered EtD because the current transfer is truly dreadful, but you're right pedro: Dragon has been shamefully neglected on home video. I don't think it's ever been released in anamorphic widescreen, let alone HD.

I've still got the Signature Edition LD but to be relying on that for my fix of Dragon in the year 2013 is a shocking state of affairs. Maybe there's some deeper political issue at play regarding the rights to the film, given the sources it was taken from and the occasional wrangling over Lee's legacy? It's not OOP or anything, but neither have Universal made any publicised effort to produce a remastered version.

We know that the holdup regarding Abyss is because Cameron has been too busy to supervise new transfer, but it surely can't be something that simple holding up Dragon, given how Rob Cohen isn't exactly Mr Auteur? (No disrespect intended to Mr Cohen, but let's be honest, he's a journeyman compared to Mr Cameron.)

Considering we are getting all of the Bruce Lee films on the 40th Anniversary of both ETD and Lee's death, it would be real shame for Universal to not release Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story to coincide with them.

No offense guys, but I never cared for "Dragon: The Bruce Lee" story...one viewing of that lame duck was plenty for me, and I can't imagine it's a priority of Universal to release that one in HD.

Why can't they do this with other titles as well - Goodfellas, Unforgiven, various Kubrick movies and many other of their early HD-DVD VC-1 low bit rate releases.. Apparently, it has to be a movie that just happens to have some kind of an anniversary this year.

It's one of the best biopics made in recent memory. I would love to see it on Blu-ray, but I agree that it is not a priority for Universal. I doubt they even have a decent HD master for it to produce a Blu-ray.

Perhaps they will when those films see their 40th Anniversaries?

More than anything, it seems to me that the strength of a home-video transfer's presentation has more to do with the source material used, and how it's handled in prep.
They are not slightly lower though. They are about half of the bit rates of proper new releases.

In some cases, it can look great, like with The Shining, although The Shining would obviously look even better with a 30mbps AVC transfer.

In other cases, like Goodfellas, huge compression issues are visible. Whatever the case is, it is unacceptable that some of their early releases of movies that are THIS great aren't available in proper HD quality in 2013.
