I can relate. I hated the last episode which was a massive insult to all who worked on Enterprise. As soon as I saw the Holodeck my brain disengaged and my blood-boiled! That Holodeck was always up to no-good though....

I much preferred the 1st two seasons which were a bit lighter, although there were some very good episodes in the last two seasons but if the Xindi storyline didn't appeal to you there were only a handful of non-arc episodes. Same goes for the two and three parter episodes in season four.

Would gladly upgrade to BD if the price is competitive!

Thank you Cap.T for the SFX post.

Fantastic! T'Pol's butt in HD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! !!!!!!!!!

I will be buying Enterprise on BluRay, not just for that, but, mostly for that.

Also for the stories.

I wonder if all the Best Buy Exclusive Bonus DVD content will be included on the BluRays? Most of the world got those extras, they were only stripped off the non-Best Buy DVDs in the US in order to give Best Buy an incentive. So they should be included now.

And I've managed to go all these years without watching the final episode.

I will when it is on BluRay though.

Definitely good news... I kept wondering why Enterprise wasn't on the fast-track to Blu-ray considering it is mostly there anyway.

IF they are smart, they will intersperse it with TNG season releases to spread things out and give people something in between TNG releases.

That would just leave DS9 and Voyager, which need more work, but maybe would help give them some up-front development cash to do the work.

I enjoyed the first two seasons more too. They only did the Xindi storyline in season 3 because the ratings for the show were dropping. The producers tried to make the show more action oriented which I did not mind. Season 4 to me was all over the place plot wise.

I had no problems with the special effects on Battlestar Galactica but I'm afraid Enterprise will not look that good.

Here are a few screenshots of the pilot released in 720p on iTunes:

The real life scenes will probably look a little better on Blu-ray but the special effects look rather bad on these screenshots, more like SD.

Well, I guess in the end the 25 year old TNG effects will look better than the 10 year old ENT effects...
The show was shot on 35mm film until the last season as I recall, so if the negatives are used it should look great. I don't know how the FX scenes were captured though.

Excellent news!

I will be buying them on day one! Guess it's about time to unload the DVD's.

P.S. Season 3 was my favorite.

I'll buy Season Four. It's the only season that lived up to my expectations of what the series was supposed to be about. YMMV

The first season of TNG must have did well. Good news for Enterprise fans. Personally, I'll be sticking to TNG.

I am very happy this show is getting a release. HDNet used to run it regularly and I watched all four seasons that way in true HD. Anyone that has seen the Firefly series on BD should have an idea of what Enterprise will look like, that also featured VFX at the same resolution.

One thing that was blatantly obvious, the picture quality for Enterprise takes a drastic leap in quality after season one. That first season looked little better than upscaled DVD in HD, including the regular footage. The following seasons tended to look much better and will really benefit from being on Blu-ray.

I'm no expert, but I believe that S1 was actually broadcast in SD/letterbox, and the current syndication runs use those up-scaled, whereas S2 on it was shown natively in HD, so S1 is really the only season that would need much work at all, I would imagine.

Someone, please correct me if I am wrong - but I definitely remember there was something different about S1.

As to the topic itself, I'll definitely bite when the prices are reasonable.

I will get this series, as it's my third fav after TOS and TNG. I thought DS9 was too boring (thank God they brought Worf onto the show and gave them a ship to leave DS9!) and I could never get past the God awful choice of Kate Mulgrew and her voice of fingernails on a chalkboard as Captain.

Makes perfect sense for them to release this since it was HD. I'll be buying all seasons. Very excited.

This is good news. I am quite fond of Enterprise for all it's flaws. If only they had let it finish it's 7 year run

Easily my least favorite of the Trek series, but still most likely a Day One purchase for me (if the price is right). Season 1 was by far the worst of the 4, IMHO. I'll look forward to revisiting the show in HD since I was stuck with SD when it originally aired.
