Are you suggesting a type of baloney from SONY – http://my.opera.com/jonimueller/blog/show.dml/109683

Jolie, I posted 2 educational links on the last page which detail what xvYCC color (or colour ) is and its potential applications. If you are suggesting that the software in the pictured Blu-ray cases was not encoded with this expanded color then….wouldn’t that be intentionally deceptive marketing?

P.S.
This “color” talk reminds me of a past post which Flatnote quoted…https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...on#post6879516

And with regards to that and ^ ‘color scientists’, I noticed while eagerly checking the RED forum this morning if there was any formal legal response posted yet to the previously referenced Sony lawsuit alleging patent infringement by RED), I came across a thread over there entitled “What is 'color science' and how does a 'color scientist' go about their job? “

It seems that the RED folks are sort of clueless as to what a color scientist based at a major Hollywood studio or post production house, actually does (no, it’s not color grading in the DI suite). When I get more time I should address that topic by answering that question for members here by adding a little bit more practical information to this old job posting, for starters -

Far be it from me to divulge that type of information these days, for if you recall, years ago I exclusively revealed that the OCN of Lawrence of Arabia was being scanned at 8K….and that cutting-edge information was met with derogatory comments like “take it with a boulder of salt”.

Anyway, why would Ghostbusters really need a new transfer in the first place if the first Blu-ray was described with bold, unequivocal accolades from professional film-handling Blu-ray-reviewers like this…”The HD video master of Ivan Reitman's 1984 Ghostbusters had the input of cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs, and as such must be considered incontestable as far as a Blu-ray is concerned.”….

And from the same review…”Created from an archival 35mm interpositive, what has been delivered via Blu-ray is Ghostbusters as it originally looked, and I couldn't be happier.”

Incontestable? As it originally looked? Couldn’t be happier? < Sounds pretty darn good to me …at least in terms of grain replication, brightness, gamma and contrast. Why mess with absolute happiness? I eagerly await the screenshot comparisons with this title.

Labor in hell is cheap????
Seriously, it doesn't take a lot more expense to produce a 4K panel over an HD panel, but the accompanying bells and whistles do add somewhat to the cost differential.

So i take it that's a no? Haha. The current BD looks good. I like the way it looks; very filmy and a heavy texture that i like about old 35mm films. But.....there's room for improvements.

That's the only film in the mastered in 4K collection that doesn't have a 4K source sooooo............????

It sickens me, that children are a victim of what can only be described as a sub-human act.

No, don’t take it that way. The way you should take it is that I am not saying one way or another, i.e. neither confirming nor denying.

For context, something to keep in mind is that despite the fact that you personally like the look of the first Ghostbusters Blu-ray, there are a lot of Ghostbusters cinephiles who believe the ‘look’ of the first Blu-ray rendition in general, and in particular a few notable scenes, appears nothing like the original theatrical presentations which they viewed multiple times as avid fans of the flick. I’ll bet some would say that your phrase “there's room for improvements” is like describing torture as “enhanced interrogation techniques”.

Anyway, if you would like some straightforward insider news which I can reveal, I refer you to this post from the ‘The Last Days of Celluloid Thread”… https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ot#post7314494

P.S. What the hell, is the last post on that thread ^ by JacobJeans spam? or, has he been smoking too much weed?
