The studio might have silk-screened the "re-mastered disc 1" to look like the "bad disc 1" for the exchange program customers.

Then for retail stores, maybe they purposely added white text to differentiate

Just checked my (yellow UPC) copy--the lettering on the disc is definitely white.

The replacement Amazon sent me DOESN'T have the "2-disc set" above the Paramount logo on the cardboard slipcover, but it DOES have it on the plastic case(white upc code). Did they send me the old version?

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned but I thought I would ask. Is there an actual released date for the Remastered Gladiator. Have not seen it on any store shelves where I live, or I cant tell on Amazon if its the old or remastered version.

yep, it's in all stores now...i'm in St. Louis as well...if you go to any Best Buy/Wal-Mart here, the Gladiator is the remastered one.

if you want to double check, the packaging is the same as the original release, except on the bottom right corner of the back cover, it does not say 2 disc set....as opposed to the original release which said '2 disc set' on that portion of the artwork.

Look for a yellow UPC which will still have the words 2-Disc Set on the actual artwork.

or (not "and" which is a different word and a different meaning than "or")

Look for the words 2-Disc Set missing above the Paramount logo on the back of the actual artwork

I've found the "yellow upc" at my local wal-mart but for $24.96 I can't pull the trigger.

You can not. From the postings on various internet forums, Amazon still has stock of the DNR/EE version.

what! - it took Paramount how long to put a yellow UPC on this release?? just finding a copy with the '2-disc set' not on it was a pain in the ass.

I picked up the White UPC/missing "2-Disc Set" version at my local Wal-Mart about a week-and-a-half back -- they still had some of the DNR/EE versions on the shelf, which helped in the comparison.

Try walmart.com and choose the free "ship to site." you may get a little better price. I did this and got the remastered version no problem and it came much quicker than the delivery time they advertised.
