Target has this for $8.99 right now, and even though it has a white UPC and the "two-disc set" wording it is the "R2" remastered disc. Just an FYI for anyone still out to get this. Not sure why it took me so long.

I have a region B copy of Gladiator. When the movie starts the title "Gladiator" stays black...is it safe to assume I have the remastered version?

Yes. Ironically, the version in which the title changes colors is the original theatrical version.

Well I watched the Extended version of the movie and the title colour stayed Black, I haven't tried the standard theatrical version...The discs themselves look the same as the ones which come in the Steelbook version.

I am talking about when the film was first released in theaters in 2000...the title changed colors.

Amazon GLADIATOR Remastered?

Does anyone know or how can I tell if the version that's on sale for $6.96 right now the original or remastered version? (without buying it first)

Look at the UPC on the Amazon listing and compare it with the white and yellow label ones (you can find pictures on Blu-ray.com's listings for each one). But I'm pretty sure the remastered one is the only one sold by default now.

There shouldn't be any "pretty sure about it:"

Inititally released in 2009.

This is 2015.

That is 6 years so the old stock is either all sold/destroyed or has been avalanched over by the new stock.

Just got mine from Amazon today and it is indeed the fixed remastered version with the R2 at the end of the code on the data side of disc 1. The back of my case does say 2 Disc set on the right side but has both a 2010 date and a different code than the original 2009 versions. The code in the bottom right corner of the back is 11111019853, which is completely different than what the screenshots in the remastered review from 2010 shows. Hope this helps people who are still questioning which version they're getting.

I would think by now they are all the remastered version.

I got the Warner Bros. Steelbook version from Bestbuy for $9.99 a couple months ago to make sure I got the remastered disc.

How can I make sure I have the right version? It's not a yellow UPC. It says it's from 2010 on the back

Title screen looks different, has "R2" on the disc. The UPC is no longer a factor, mine has a normal UPC but is the correct version. It's been replaced for so long at this point it would be highly surprising if a new copy from a store was the old disc.

There are pix earlier in the thread which show the corrected title screen and uncorrected. I think the new one is black and orange ...?

Not if StingingVelvet is correct. I thought they went with the yellow UPC, but if not, or if that's no longer the case ... it's open & pray.

The bad stock was released in 2009. This is 2016, I seriously doubt you are gonna get a defective disc.

Especially since Warner has only had access to the corrected stock. A white UPC with the Warner shield means you are OK. A white UPC sticker with the Warner shield means you are OK.

The yellow UPC thing is no longer part of the pressing since Warner had distribution rights for three years.

Regarding the Extended Edition of Gladiator on Blu-ray - from what I've read this has inferior video quality compared to the original Theatrical cut on Blu-ray. Is that correct?

Is there a version of the Extended Edition on Blu-ray with excellent video? I'm not worried about the region, just as long as the dialogue and any onscreen text and subtitles are also selectable in English.

Nope.

All releases worldwide are from the same Universal produced masters.
