30fps on 60 Hz refresh rate should be fine. As long as the refresh rate is an even multiplication of the frame rate, it's not a problem.

I have pondered this for some time, personally I think it will be like PlayStation 4's case. Have you seen them? If not there the same size but without the bar at the top with the Blu-ray logo on it, there also a different shade of blue.

IMO, they should have a black blu ray case,

And replace the silver blu ray logo on the case with this golden 4K logo:

I don't think '4K' should and will be used. It will most likely be different casing to avoid confusion with current Blu-rays.
Besides, wasn't it already confirmed that the new generation will be called UHD-BD?

As UHD is an extension of the BD specification, as 3D was, I'd expect the same cases to be used, just with the UltraHD logo on the sleeve somewhere.

Would that also mean every UHD BD must include the current 1080p BD too?

I personally hope that the UHD format will only do native 4K transfers for material that was either shot in 4K or scanned from a film negative in at least 4K or higher resolution. I am hoping to see UHD specs for 1080p material from films that were done with a 2K DI or shot with cameras that don't provide full 4K resolution. I want this to become like D-Cinema where you get the higher specs for ALL resolutions but every movie doesn't have to be an actual 4K file (since very few actually are).

I think that's how it's gonna go, Kris. With the inclusion of a 1080p mode there's no need to upscale stuff to 4K to take advantage of all the other benefits of UHD BD, although they'd be better off putting out pure 4K content initially.

Edit: You say you're hoping to see 1080p specs for UHD BD, you've seen the slides on this site, right?

Specifically this one?

Are there any audio specs for the 4k Blu-ray? Will movies sound even better?

People are worried about 1080p support? It supports vcd, so I think it would be fine

Everything on that slide has been covered, or hinted to, months ago from Hobbit-ish frame rates – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...hz#post9732007

To ‘ST2084’ https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...rd#post9754213
along with supplemental easy-on-the-eyes YouTube clips.

Are we not cutting edge in the Tech forum of the Blu-ray.com?

The sound specs. will more than likely be the same as regular Blu-ray (which can already accept Dolby Atmos and DTS: X object surround and totally channel based Auro3D). DTS does have a Coreless Lossless version of their codec that may get added into the mix, however.

If they were smart, they'd bring back the DVD sized cases. More room for artwork, more space, and they can hopefully get rid of the colored case that just doesn't mesh with most movie artwork. Also, they will need more space for discs anyway. We'll probably have combo packs up the wazoo. UHHD discs/3D/2D/DVD/Bonus/DC LOL

I am curious to find some more information regarding this DTS-HD MA coreless codec, it will certainly make DTS-HD MA more efficient, but obviously lack backwards compatibility, unless new decoders can transcode to lossy DTS.

I remember something similar was available with Dolby and HD-DVD, where transcoding was done.
