The only HDR10+ hardware I have is the phone, and it's an OLED that can actually pump out major nits.

HDR10+ might hold the universal future.

* 'Alien', 40th Anniversary, 4K Blu > HDR10+ (20th Century FOX, now Disneyland)

'Alien' 4K Blu-ray To Benefit From New Picture-Boosting Feature - But Only If You Have The Right TV

...The thing is, 20th Century Fox has confirmed to me that, as with some of its other recent releases, Alien will appear on 4K Blu-ray with an HDR10+ master alongside the basic HDR10 format that you get on all 4K Blu-ray discs.

You need to be very patient, with all the blanket adds and video adds.
It can take days before the page you want shows up.

Best to stick where it's quick.

They're adding blankets to videos or adding videos to blankets?

I did and so did at least 1 other member. I hard to really tell a difference. I would need 2 exact same tvs side by side to pick out differences.

Perhaps the new Robin Hood 4K UHD disc would provide a better test. As currently it's the only movie to offer both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ graded content on the same disc (as well as regular HDR10) - Although I have no idea if it's possible to quickly switch between the HDR options

There's no 'in menu' selectability on the disc, if that's what you mean. Whatever flavour of HDR plays depends entirely on the EDID feedback it gets from the playback chain, as well as the foibles of that playback hardware itself e.g. DV-compatible Panasonic players will apparently default to HDR10+ if that signal is available (and if the chain also supports it of course), so in the case of Robin Hood that hardware may override the DV completely. Thankfully it's very easy to turn DV and HDR10+ on and off in the Panny's menus so people could easily disable HDR10+ in which case the DV layer would play (again if the chain supports it). I wish turning DV on and off on the OPPO was as easy as it is on the Panny.

This falls in line with Vincent's HDR10/HDR10+ analysis.

I wonder if we could get this added as a feature request before development completely ends

And it would apply more commonly to DV vs HDR10 as well, if the HDR10 mapping wasn't all over the place from manufacturer to manufacturer and model to model.

Also OLEDs needed more help

I don't think DV is a massive upgrade, based on my experience, but at the same time, I don't recall a single disc on which DV and HDR10 are 100% identical, like one of the HDR10+ discs that Vincent tested where he found absolutely no difference between HDR10 and HDR10+.

"More help" than what? OLEDs benefit less from dynamic metadata than edge lit LCDs. Edge lit TVs are the ones that need dynamic metadata the most.

Well when checking out if anyone had tested Tom’s content on an HDR10+ supported TV, I’d thought somebody posted this Samsung news previously on that thread - https://www.marketwatch.com/story/sa...dit-2019-03-21 and I noticed (unless I’m getting early onset Alzheimer’s) it appears that particular post had been deleted.

Does the current AVS administration have strong ties to Samsung? IMO, nothing really that wrong with it if they do, as long as they fully disclose to their readership such a sympatico affiliation essentially pandering to this or that consumer manufacturer, so their readers can take that into account when making purchasing decisions or judgements about certain marketing claims, etc. They sure promote IMAX enhanced stuff it seems whenever I visit their homepage.

The YouTube clip from that ^ old movie about the teams reminds me, for a while I’ve been meaning to plug this worthy foundation, but hadn’t yet, so for those who believe in putting down their remotes for a minute and giving back to others for protecting us, visit - https://c4foundation.org/ to donate.

b.t.w., in case you don’t know, the C4 in C4foundation stands in memory of the man affectionately and interchangeably known as Charlie, Chuck, and C4 – https://vimeo.com/272849959

When the TV becomes available to him, has Vincent announced any plans to hook up the GZ2000 to a Panny player with DV/HDR10+ functionality and evaluate the various HDR versions of Robin Hood?
