![]() F1 franchise makes its debut on current-gen consoles this summer Codemasters' F1 racing series will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for the first time from 12th June with the arrival of F1 2015. 1 Also available on PC, this year's racer boasts an all-new game engine, plus fresh championship season and pro season modes. Improved physics and handling have been applied to all areas of the cars themselves, from tyres to the fuel tank. Also new: a broadcast-style presentation and voice integration with Kinect and the PlayStation Camera so you can ask for updates on race information, weather and request tyre changes. The 2014 FIA Formula One World Championship will also be playable. "F1 2015 marks an exciting new chapter for Codemasters and Formula One; it's a shift in direction for the game series, on new formats and our brand new game engine, with the game set to be released earlier in the season, launching this June," director Paul Jeal said. "The handling is a vast improvement from our previous games. In particular our new tyre model is a superb step forward towards realism, letting you explore where the limit is and allowing you to instantly feel much more connected with the car. You can now experience the changes in grip caused by temperature changes, wear, car set-up, debris and weather conditions." ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Mavrick; 03-26-2015 at 05:55 PM. |

Looks cool. Nice to see they're continually striving to improve the series.
F1 races on city street tracks and courses are usually fun to watch, thanks to the F1 cars with engines able to reach 21,000 RPMs, the great engine sound and the winding, challenging tracks to maneuver through while trying to pass the car in front. I still remember Sega's Super Monaco game in arcades and on the Genesis. |

Still not happy they promised it for the start if the season and now here we are finally getting it revealed days before the second race of the season let alone released. Graphics also don't look any better than the PC versions have looked so hopefully work in progress means those are still going to get a significant bump. Instead of pointlessly adding the 2014 cars they should have also gone back to 2013 and brought back some of the historic cars and tracks people were not happy they got rid of in 2014.

Digital is up to whoever updates the PSN servers, weekly updates are usually on a Wednesday. Although if it's a digital version of a game thats also retail like FF Type-0 we still have to wait for the street date which was Friday last week.

I'm trying to update the Calender but don't want to assume the digital only game is Wednesday. |

I'm pretty hesitant to be excited about this. CM hasn't really done anything outstanding in years. They've had buggy games, overpriced DLC that split up the online player bases, took out features (cockpit in Grid - only to put in a half-arsed version in the next game), and frankly completely treated the North America market like crap. F1 2013 never released in any physical format, and they didn't announce this until 1 day before the game released. Then they released it like months later, digital only. For those that wanted a physical copy (ya know, bandwidth caps), they said "import the uk version" except it had historical DLC content so you had to have a UK store account with UK card to get that for the UK disc and yada yada yada..
I'd be lying if I said I was never going to play this game (assuming they give me a chance to buy the dang thing) but I'm not really getting my hopes up for it. Quote:
Shoot, here's a portion of eurogamer's f1 2014 review: Quote:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...f1-2014-review Not that Martin is the only worthy opinion on the game, but he's done quite a few racing reviews for Eurogamer and I usually find myself close to his opinions. Here's another excerpt from his 2012 review: Quote:

"Oh and here have these year-old car models that nobody really wants!" Like you said, historic cars would have a good addition (on disc, not the DLC garbage for a digital-only game they had two years ago). But whatever....it is what it is what it is.... |

![]() "Striving to improve the game" even in small ways, but with yearly releases, things will inevitably get repetitious at some point with minor upgrades and improvements to the game, just like any sport. As long as they're not making the game worse by removing cool features, options and modes, while trying to improve the tire feedback and make other significant improvements. |

Now who knows what 2015 will entail. But I will say this - if it's been years since you played, perhaps you won't be as cynical or worn out on their treatment of the games. In fact, one might even say newcomers would get the most appreciation of their games. I'll probably wait until the game is out and in the hands of the players and see what they say before considering a purchase. |

F1 2015 will be 1080p on PS4, targeting 60fps.
Codemasters' F1 2015, the studio's debut on the current generation of consoles, will be shooting for 60fps on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with Sony's console getting the 1080p treatment while Microsoft's gets 900p. "On console we've had it very, very close to 60fps, certainly on PS4," F1 2015's game designer Steven Embling told Eurogamer. "Everyone at the studio is doing a fantastic with the optimisation, and we're in the final couple of months before release where there's a big push that we hit that 60fps, and that's the plan." F1 2015 marks a slightly belated entry to the new generation for Codemasters as they've got to grips with the hardware. So why has it taken a while for this debut? "It's quite a straightforward answer to that one," said Embling. "We had to do everything from the ground up. Our previous games, they were always building on what we had before and we had a stable platform they could build on. This time, with this game, we wanted to harness the power of the new consoles. In order to do that we had to start from scratch completely." F1 2015 comes out earlier in the year than previous Codemasters F1 games, with the final release due on June 12. Slightly contrary to earlier reports, the 2015 grid as it lined up in Melbourne will be on the disc, with an update in the near future introducing the Manor F1 team. The 2014 grid in its entirety will also feature. Codemasters intends to stick to the earlier release window for future F1 games, with another entry due as part of the studio's agreement with FOM, and with the intention to renew the F1 contract beyond 2016. ![]() Last edited by Mavrick; 04-16-2015 at 09:15 AM. |
