Unless it's the active shutter glasses, I don't understand why so many people think it's so weird and uncomfortable wearing glasses. And they do. As I have seen their posts complaining about having to wear the reald 3d glasses at the movie theatres. For the reasons mentioned above. Even though they don't normally wear any glasses.

Those really aren't much different than having to wear normal glasses, which a lot of people do without complaining.

The only ones I can really understand complaining about those types of glasses are the ones who already wear regular glasses since they then have to wear two pairs of glasses to properly see the movies.

However, there are very easy solutions to that.

They just need to wear reald clip-ons.

That's one area reald sems to have overlooked.

The first area reald noticed they overlooked was not having any kids' size 3d glasses for the kids to wear during the 3d kids' movies.

They have since corrected that. And now offer both kids size and regular adult size reald glasses at the movie theatres.

I think i have found at least one of the (real) reasons for the haters out there of 3D - It is something THEY are lacking.. -

Awesome article well worth a read for how it pertains to 3D and our brain's interpretation of 3D. Also check out the blogs of Dr Barry Sandrew for more on this kinda stuff (founder of Conversion company Legend3d) whose built his conversion principles on neuoroscience (his specialty).-

Well guys my fiance and I watched our first 3D blu ray last night. Borrowed Hugo from freind of mine to check out, plus his Sony 3D glasses lol, and you can now call me a band wagon jumper. I now believe it or not support the 3D format. Never in a million years did I ever think that would happen but you can thank Sony and my HX750 tv for that. Not only was this a great movie to jump into the 3D experience but my tv seemed to put us right there in the movie itself. I have to say one of the best 3D experiences I have ever had so far while watching a movie at home. Now I am just afraid that I will be buying alot of 3D movies and spending alot of money .

Welcome home steve! Your new addiction awaits it's mandatory scheduled feeding.
You've arrived in 3D world at an excellent time. With Hugo available, Avengers just released, & Prometheus, Avatar, and several other great titles coming soon.

Thanks Ray. I was a 3D hater and never thought the 3D experience was going to be worth it but once again I was wrong. I guess I spoke at times when I should have just "shut the hell up" and just gave 3D a chance. I learned! And yes its 3D time and I fear it will be a feeding frenzy for me! lol

One learns that technical expertise in the industry is inversely proportional to the mainstream status of the site that posts it.
If Wired says 3D is here, and an AP article reposted on Slate says it isn't, it's here.

(Not that I'm curious, but where? All I see is on my Yahoo homepage is Florida acting suspicious about voter registration--again--Romney pretending he's not terrified of the debates, and everyone inappropriately giggling at Netanyahu's Wile E. Coyote Acme bomb. )

Love 3D, think Tangled, Beauty and the Best and Bolt looks good in 3D, is there away to know if a movie has been converted to 3D or has been filmed in 3D ?

Look up the movie on IMDB and go to it's technical specifications. It will tell you what camera was used, if it was shot digitally or on film, specifically the size of film used, and all post-production prints, including 3D conversion.

Generally, I use my eyes to tell if it's native or converted. Converted never looks right to me.

these are animated, so they are more tricky. A film like SW needs to be converted, but if a film was animated in CGI in 2D then it might not need to be converted even if it was originally shown in 2D. If they still have the computer program they can just re-run it and re-shoot it in 3D. The audio does not change and the characters and backgrounds will just re play exactly (unless they are modified) as they did before

In the beginning I was a 3D hater calling it a fad and a gimmick. I tested it out at my local Sears and still I didnt buy into it. That is until I got my Sony 3D/LED tv. The first 3D movie I watched on it was Hugo and that was it I was converted. I dont watch a 3D movie everyday but I know its there when my wife and I feel the need to watch a good 3D movie. But 3D is good and I now love it and support the format.

Oh, good, you started with the movie that WASN'T a cheap gimmick.
Most folk aren't as lucky as you, and still live in resentment and superstition.

(Y'know, that's the good thing about this forum, they never throw posts away.
Makes it useful for blackmail and historical embarrassment, five years later.)

If you like 3D, then get it. If you don't care about it then ignore it. No one is forcing you to get 3D. Personally I really like well done 3D on my projector setup.

I was a hater initially until I saw good 3D. I wouldn't want to watch all my content in 3D, but it does add to films where it is done well.

We are still years away from a holodeck though
