And here is something to debunk the original posting. There were exciting 3D news from CES, although 4K was the new jewel of the crown.

Second this is essentially the last shot Fox gets a piece of this stuff... So Duh. Of course they do control distribution until 2020, excluding Star Wars Ep IV, which they completely control. (Lucas did not get the rights back on that film, just the subsequent films.) fitprod |

Why hasn't Hollywood figured it out?!?!?!?
I'm poor. I have defective eyes and brain. I consider having nearly weightless plastic on my ears and nose to be an unbearable burden. Due to these reasons all movie-going individuals on earth should be forbidden from enjoying the highly immersive experience that 3d films can create. WHY IS HOLLYWIERD SO STOOPID?!?!?1?! |

![]() I know the PM Ep. 1 numbers, and they were sufficient. There is an agreement between Fox and Disney/LucasFilm that brought the other re-releases forward, fact. |

I'm sad now. I just found out commenting on a forum means I have a fake life and fake job. I guess it should be that way when movies are fake too. Lies, all of it.
On a serious note, 3D and IMAX are continuing to grow. The sheer amount of new releases and conversions of older films show that there is a substanial interest in the medium. It may never reach a majority audience, but the vast amount of people who do enjoy it are obviously at such a number that they continue to use the technology and are developing new ways to use it. |

IMO, there are some movies that benefited from 3D and maybe watched the movie because it was offered in 3D whereas they might not have watched it. IMO, Avatar benefited from the 3D technology and they certainly milked that movie with eventually releasing in 3D on bluray. As a business move it was smart and during that time 3D sets was still fairly new. It has matured to a level where there are less problems. I remember when I got my Samsung C8000 that I had problems with disconnects, crosstalk and ghosting. I was very frustrated with the technology but looked at the positive at the picture being really good.
I can see how somebody can get frustrated as I was once in those shoes but now have fully embraced the technology. I also agree, that 3D is not for everyone especially those who get physically affected by it. I don't allow my kids to watch in 3D and sometimes I have to turn off my system because my 2 year old daughter would come downstairs with her cheap sunglasses on wanting to watch with me. I think that is very cute of her btw. To the OP,whether you watch movies in 3D or not doesn't really matter, its how you feel. As long as you enjoy the movie for your entertainment is fine but try not to ruin the fun for others who enjoy it. |

I'm not throwing out the possibility his post would have been longer if mom didn't come downstairs into the dragon layer and kick him off the internet for the night. Bad facts, opinion based assumptions, trollllly troll gets the cookie for stirring up lots of commotion.
3d has been dead for years, that's why it's still here - duh. |

To the OP: If you truly feel dizzy and have aching eyes after watching stereoscopic 3D, I would encourage you to have a comprehensive eye exam from a health professional. Sorry that you have had poor 3D experiences in the past and can't enjoy 3D content as much as the rest of us.
It is common for underlying vision problems, sometimes correctable, to become apparent with significant difficulty or discomfort in seeing stereo 3D. The following video is from the American Optometric Association and may be of interest to you. Last edited by BleedOrange11; 01-17-2013 at 08:01 PM. |

And for those whiny people who constantly cry and complain about the glasses, CES was showcasing a couple of Glasses free 3D tv this year. Like this one that's being created by Dolby, the guy says tho there is some 3D effect it's no where near as impressive as Active nor Passive 3D TVs.
This Vizio glasses free 3D one tho was the best rated, I can kind of see some effect here, honestly I still think I'm gonna prefer to stick to Glasses 3D. Once you take away the glasses you might as well be watching the movie in 2D. Last edited by reaper_234; 01-18-2013 at 04:19 AM. |

So that Vizio one essentially works like the 3DS screen (which has multiple 'hot spots' depending on which angle you're looking at the screen from). Having said that, the 3DS doesn't go 2D when you're out of the 'hot spot' - it reverses the image. So that's one good feature I suppose.
Overall though, I think I'll be passing on any TVs that use this tech for glasses-free 3D. I frequently watch 3D movies with a number of people - could you imagine telling them 'okay, so you need to sit here to get the effect, and you over here...'. Maybe even circling some physical spots on your lounge so people know where to sit? Hard pass. |

So Yea it's a pass for me also, not to say there isn't a future for glasses free 3D tho. But when they upgrade it to holograms which i think will be next after glasses free 3D, depending on how great it looks now that's what I'll upgrade to. |

Scarlett Johansson every night for this guy, lol. Getting back to glasses free 3D sets....I was under the impression that one big problem for glasses free 3D is that the viewing ''sweet spot'' is very small and precise. I wont even consider a glasses free set unless they can increase the viewing area of the sweet spot for the 3D. I really dont mind the glasses much at all....hardly notice my Epson 3D glasses. Lightweight, no headaches or eyestrain at all for me. |

I don't mind the glasses either and it pisses me off when people constantly complain about them, saying things as it makes the screen look way to dark. It doesn't give me headaches, eye strain or anything at all either, I won't be buying a glasses free 3D tv until it's perfected to looking as good and be as immersive as 3D with the glasses. Which I think will be a couple more years away until they can do that. |

From the American Optometric Association: [Show spoiler] http://3deyehealth.org/faq.html If you ever decide to try out 3D viewing with her, ask her questions and make sure that she is seeing the 3D properly and comfortably. 3D can sometimes be used to catch amblyopia early.
