I can't help but find the thread's title a bit...odd? To answer the question though, I don't think all 3D is good, just properly handled 3D.

Yeah,I wonder what the point of this thread is other than to open up yet another dumping ground for 3D haters.
Get over yourselves guys,3D is the future of filmmaking... just accept it!

Tell me about it - I've bought 65 3D titles just since February of this year, when I had finally upgraded to a 3D projector...

If you want the masses to come, release more 3D movies with great quality 3D such as Hugo, A Christmas Carol, Drive Angry, Avatar, Tangled, Resident Evil: Afterlife, and Ultimate Wave: Tahiti.
Right on!

Same here. I can't pass up the 20$ deals on 3D movies I've been interested in buying. Thanks to Best Buy and Amazon lowering their prices. Not much thanks to Target, who prefers to charge full price, 34.99 and up mostly.

42" is a nice size for a 3DTV.

Good point. Once 3D goes Glasses free, by then, costs of producing 3D and the weight/size of 3D live action camera rigs will go down. Some theaters, like Cinemark, say they offer a brighter 3D experience.

To sum it up, Stereo 3D, like color vision and stereo sound (2 ears), is a natural extension of our everyday sight (for most). Why not extend that to our TVs as Cameron suggests?

With Glasses free 3DTV, I'm betting it'll also work with our blu ray 3D discs, provided blu ray is the current format in the next 10 years.

agreed.Once a reliable system for glasses-free 3D has been developed there will be no question as to 2D fading away.

Good point. 2D is nice, but it's like having one eye closed, compared to two eyes open with stereo 3D. Glasses free will be a big plus once the prices drop and the tech is fine tuned, this way it can be viewed without a second thought, by anyone with a pair of stereoscopic eye vision.

Men in Black 3 and Star Wars:TPM were both filmed in 2D and so-called "converted to 3D".

"Hugo" was actually filmed in 3D.

If that ever happens (and it probably will), I hope I can still get a passive 3D tv in the size that I want. (a bigger one than I have now).

In my experience so far, I prefer passive 3D tv sets rather than glasses-free sets.

And it isn't only me.

What glasses free are you talking about? Have you seen a glasses free TV? If there was a successful glasses free TV, why would you want to wear glasses that reduce resolution and cut down brightness? Excuse me for asking but I don't get what you're saying.

I think trying to watch 3D on a small screen is ineffective, but on a large screen its great.

I like it,it's good to have another option,I do prefer 2D but like I say, when I have this option it is a welcome change at times.
I have had my 3D set over a year and have only bought my second 3d film,I think that is half the battle, not enough big releases out there, unless you are into animation movies there is a limited choice.
But having watched Titanic the other day it has gave me the 3D buzz again and I have just asked my brother to get me Avatar 3D for my birthday.
IMO these two releases alone near make it worth having a 3D set.

Cool. Yeah, Cameron knows how to make 3D worthwhile. Also see Journey to the Center of the Earth 1 3D, Hugo 3D and a few others with strong 3D. Avengers 3D is really good 3D worth a look as well.

I was looking at Hugo earlier,I can pick it up now for a good price,I don't know what the film is like but read a lot of good reviews about the 3d aspect of the movie.

Hugo is an excellent movie and an excellent use of 3D. If you can get it for $20, snatch it up!

I have always liked 3D. And never ever got tired at the movie theatre when watching two 3d movies in a row.

However, at home, there were some times when it seemed like my eyes were starting to hurt from watching 3D.

Even during one movie. However, that was either because I was tired or the way the lights were or weren't on in my room.

I did eventually notice I can't watch 3D all the time like I thought I could.

I need breaks from it ocassionaly.

I never actually tried watching it all the time. I don't have that many 3D movies yet.

However, I know it from what happened above.

The only time I recall my eyes ever hurting from 3D at the movie theatre was the scene in Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore where the cats are high on catnip.

And a bit after that.

And that was definitely the movie's fault. Not the 3D's fault.

Eh, just watch Sammy's Adventure 3D a few times, and you'll train your eyes for strong 3D in no time...!

Default Calibrating my Panasonic 65" Plasma 3D TV

Hey Everyone, I am new to this 3D stuff. I just updated my TV to a Panasonic 3D TV, It is a 65" Panasonic Plasma, Model #- TC-P65ST30, with a set of Panasonic 3D Shutter Glasses, Model #- TY-EW3D3M. I have already watch one 3D movie in 3D, (Pirates Of The Caribbean), and the movie was just OK, to me. Jsut didnt seem to 3Dish to me, some parts were. But, I read online that you can do certain calibrations or picture settings to your TV to make the 3D pop out even more. Does anybody know how to do that? I have my picture settings right now set to "VIVID" I was told to put in on Cinema, but the picture just seems way to dark when I do that.. Anybody know about this? Thanks so much. Tom
