You're correct. 3D on most flat panels is a gimmick. On a large projector screen it can be an immersive experience.

Winner Winner chicken diner.
I use a projector. Big room. Sit anywhere from 12 to 26 feet from the screen....15' diagonal....awesome home 3d experience. Grandkids love it. Wife loves it. Jaws drop. Laughter. Smiling. Do I want to watch 3D every night? Of course not. Neither do I want my audio at 100+ decibels every night. But from time to time I sure do like firing it up!

3D is not good.

It's amazing. Take the blu ray video quality and give it another dimension... Its beautful... 3D video is like multichannel audio.... Its freakin beautiful.

Those who knock it can't afford it or for one reason or another can't enjoy it.

I don't fault people with one eye or messed up vision,... That's mean. I got nothing against stuff like that.

I've only experienced 3d in theaters, on either RealD or IMAX - I adore 'em both.

People who get to experience such magic on projectors in their own homes make me burn with envy. My HT setup is pretty weak, actually. One day I hope some new gear. *sigh*

3D isn't good.... Its like Tony the Tiger says ITSSSSSSS GREAT!!!! I love the way the movie makes you want to go inside and look around. Now there are bad 3d movies just like bad 2d movies, but for the most part they are really really cool.

I like 3d a lot and if I can buy the movie in 3d I def do,i watched clash of the titans on reg. blu ray and then on 3d it still looked better on 3d to me than reg. blu ray and its one of the weaker 3d movies. If you have good size screen or projector it does look amazing.

i freaking love 3D at home. If its done right like many titles has done now. Then you are always in for one hell of a ride. It takes viewing movies to a whole ew level

3D is definitely here to stay with so many cool movies heading our way already this year in 3D and i can't wait to own them on BD 3D

To me it is very simple, it can be, when it's shot natively!

I'll stand by what I thought of it then, "niche gimmick for the rich-&-dumb".

Don't be offended! I've jumped into so many first generation electronic gizmo's to help further there development. Plus making all my cinema kit obsolete was not a clever thing to do either.

Let's see you need a 3D reciever, 3D player + display (prefer projectors myself). Then you have to go down the dilema of which 3d type passive/active, then which is more expensive to buy glasses for..ow the joy.

You guys keep fighting the good fight for 3D; I will happily sit by & wait for either non-glasses 3d technology or for its epic-fail of the decade videos.

You not heard the cinemas in america want to charge people more for watching 2D to supplement the 3D showings?

I don't know much about the rich & dumb or poor & smart nonsense, but I do believe that dictionaries can and should be used by more people to eliminate nonsensical babbling.

I like watching 3D movies at the cinema but I don't want a 3D TV or 3D Blu-Rays, I don't see the point

Watching in 3D is a novelty and not something I would want to do too often

I love 3D but I'm becoming really turned off by it, having bought and owned about 29 3D movies on Blu-Ray 3D. There's only about maybe 15-16 which I can truly say are worth it, I'm starting to feel cheated in the theaters and by paying nearly $30 for these 3D movies on Blu-Ray only for it to be so flat and barely distinguishable from being in 2D.

I do this same thing too, I've sold quite a bit of my 3D movies on Ebay, out of how disappointed I was with them. If I get them again I just go with the normal 2D version.

I am new to the 3D experience. I never went to the movies to see a 3D movie, but since I purchased a Panasonic 60ZT60 3D TV, I thought I'd give it a try. I am not a big "movie buff" so my first purchase in 3D was Under The Sea. I can honestly say I was impressed. I have since purchased 5 movies (including Gravity) and really enjoy this new experience. I do prefer the documentary over the movies, but that is my own opinion, and plan on getting more. I only watch 3D about twice a week, mostly in a darker room and the glasses don't bother me. I also enjoy a good concert, so the Scorpions in 3D is also on my list. All in all, I think 3D is good.

I wouldn't invest in 3D at this time. Its in the transitional technological state right now and will get better and better. 3D in 10 years time will blow away the current format. Hopefully it still requires the same 3D discs your buying today. If not you will inevitably buy it all again.

If I have any 3D discs its because they came with the 2D discs. I'm still on the fence with 3D though.

I don't know if it'll be any better in 10 years. I mean this isn't the first time 3D has shown up - but it is the first time it is even viable in the home market.

I find it good, but more as a gimmic. I enjoy watching movies in it. But I actually find it less "real" than 2d 99% of the scenes. I mean the effect is too exaggerated, and way more than you get with your real eyes. Eg, you don't see any 3D effects looking at a building half a mile away, so when in a movie you are seeing 3D at that distance, your brain is saying "this isn't right" and it looks more toy-like.

I don't get the "toy effect" at all. I think it adds to the realism in every film I watch.

When I was shopping for a TV, I wasn't interested in a 3D TV, but I did want a Panasonic Plasma. Unfortunately, they (the Panasonic 2D Plasmas) were sold out and after great resolve, I spent the extra money on the ZT. I read many comments, both pro and con on 3D. Since 3D was one of it's features, I thought I'd try it out myself so I purchased a (my first) 3D Bly ray player. I wouldn't want to watch everything in 3D, but it is a treat when only used occasionally. As I stated, I am impressed with 3D, especially for watching nature documentaries.

I love Home 3d. My audio setup is also better than what the local theaters use.

I actually hate movie theaters and much rather see it at home. Better snacks, no crying babies or talking people. And no one kicking your seat back.

And in most cases the 3d at home seem more solid than it is in the movies.

I use a Samsung Plasma 3d set.
