Booked for the BFI IMAX! No word on whether they're showing it in 48fps yet which I'd prefer but I'm happy just seeing it in good seats on that screen. Can't wait.

Radagast, do you like Red Velvet Pancake Puppies?
In the Letters of JRR Tolkien book, Tolkien describes going to a foreign talk/dinner where the entire menu consisted of LOTR-themed dishes--
Unfortunately, the hosts' English wasn't the greatest; they had the rather poorly-chosen idea of referencing Farmer Maggot for the mushroom broth, and Tolkien describes being served
[Show spoiler]"Maggot Soup".

Never had them.

What's up with Radagast being turned into a moth? Is that a weak reference to the moth that Gandalf talked to in the LOTR movie?

Let's hope that is just a rumor, because if not, it represents a liberal application of "artistic license". The only mention of Radagast in The Hobbit occurs
[Show spoiler] when Gandalf tells Beorn, "perhaps you have heard of my good cousin Radagast who lives near the Southern borders of Mirkwood?" Beorn replies, "Yes; not a bad fellow as wizards go, I believe." I used to see him now and again."
And that's it.
.

Although Radagast was "a friend of birds and beasts", it is highly unlikely that he transformed himself into them, and counter to Tolkien's statement:

"[The Wizards] appear always as old men and sages." (my emphasis)

So I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Somewhere Radagast is described as a "master of shapes and hue". What does that mean?

That was Gandalf's description of him at the Council of Elrond. I surmised that meant he could camouflage himself, similar to Saruman's robe-color changing illusion trick, but who knows?

[Show spoiler]I will guess that during the Dol Guldur assault by the White Council that somehow Sauron zaps him into one of his animal friends(the glorious moth), in which he is stuck that way forever(well, at least until the fall of Barad-dûr). And it dose link up very nicely with Jackson's version of LotRs.

And actually since Jackson has already changed so much in this particular universe anyway, it does not bother me anymore(as the horse has already left the barn, so to speak). Specially since we will get a brand new take on these from somebody else ten years from now anyway.

Yeah, was wondering how they'd handle the "talking trolls" after the trolls in Fellowship and Return--
Especially since the Extended FOTR went out of their way to put a Hobbit cameo scene of the
[Show spoiler]stoned
trolls into the Jackson canon.

Ironically what has me somewhat concerned regarding the "talking" in the film, has been some of Bilbo's lines from the various trailers. They just do not seem to mesh well from the book that I remember. Such as his conversation with Gollum(and Gollum's also), and that small bit with the trolls. It just seems that there is too much cuteness involved here.

I know as I stated a couple of posts above that Jackson is adding his own flavor to this, but we will just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Bilbo's response to the Trolls in the book is brilliant, showing a sense of wit even when faced with outright danger: "I cook much better than i cook, if you see what i mean!" when faced with being eaten. That better be in the film, there is no reason to remove it.

I'm looking for a nostalgic experience, so I'll be seeing the film in the same format as LotR. I've seen the trailers in theaters in both 2D and 3D, and I love the way it looks in the former.

I'll watch it in 2D if offered in 48fps If 3D is the only way to get 48fps that is fine as well.
