The 2nd is supposed to come out a year after the 1st one. I wish it was like the last 2 Harry Potter movies and the 2nd part was coming out half a year later.

I've decided to read the books again, starting with the Silmarillion onward. That should ease the wait...hopefully.

isn't bluray up to 1920×1080 pixel resolution at 24fps

What do you mean?They shoot it at 48fps,but that can easily be converted to 24fps...Anything I'm missing here?

I have been working in Alaska and have limited internet access, but finally got to view the clip. First of all, thanks for posting it here for the Blu-ray forum Tolkien fans. I think it is safe to say that we can put aside any doubt that the production is getting anything but the highest level of effort and energy - it also appears to have total commitment from the New Zealand public. By having this Facebook diary, Jackson demonstrates his brilliance by making the development of the movie accessible to Tolkien fans, therefore practically guaranteeing the same level of acceptance (and profitability) as the Lord of the Rings movies. I was psyched after viewing this; I know that in ten years we will all be looking back at this moment in the same manner that we do now when we think about how excited we were when LotR filming began over 10 years ago. It was great seeing the actors (especially Ian McKellen) and the sets; Elrond's house looked fantastic, and I was ready to move into Bag End. One very minor quibble I had was with the initial appearance of the Lonely Mountain set (not what I expected), but obviously we've only had a peak at a small part of it, I'm sure it will be OK. Anyway, I think we all have cause to be optimistic. The people working on this production are no doubt aware that they have the world's best job!

I would assume they could convert it to 24fps. But I know little about that sort of stuff.

Now, if we could just get confirmation that Hugo Weaving is on board I would be completely happy.
