Is the studio sending out smaller photos or is it just the members who are posting them linking them to sites that happened to resize them to smaller sizes? While whoever linked the earlier photos just happened to link to sites that put them up at a bigger size?

I don't think it's the posters as some of the major sites such as 'TheOneRing.net' are posting them this size, plus I am checking some of my other go-to forum/sites that are usually dependable for the best quality on promotional pictures.

I knew that I should have checked IMDb-

IIRC the dwarves waste many arrows trying to shoot at game in Mirkwood.

This is kinda interesting-

From theOneRing.net-

Ryan Gage Tweets About Hobbit “Costume Fitting”

July 14th, 2011 by Earl | Source: Ryan Gage (Twitter)

Of late there seems to be no let up to the slew of Hobbit-related news… and we’re not complaining.

Dwarf revelations aside, today brings a very interesting tweet by Ryan Gage, cast originally in the role of Drogo Baggins, the father of Frodo Baggins (played, of course, by Elijah Wood).

Had a costume fitting today and met Elijah Wood for the first time. What a really nice guy!

Early this May, Peter Jackson announced via Facebook that Ryan Gage would be playing the Master of Laketown’s conniving civil servant, Alfrid.

Thanks to TORn spy Patrick A. for the tip.

UPDATE: It seems Ryan Gage is in the UK, and upon reading this post, a reliable source has written in to inform us that the production will probably be filming with Sir Christopher Lee in the UK during the production “break”. How great is that!?

Right, they were given to the dwarves by Beorn

This is the first dwarf with who I'm disappointed, although, I wish they'd get some color into their costumes.
So far none of the dwarves match my expectation of how they would look. What happened to individual identification by the color of their hoods? We'll see how it pans out.

Some of the younger ones look a little too svelte to me, instead of stocky, like I picture pretty much all dwarves.

I think one of the purposes is to make the dwarves more identifiable with the actors, unlike John Rhys-Davies, who was almost unrecognizable as Gimli. Frogmort, you're back!

I could definitely see that, but a few of them almost look a little more elven, than dwarvish. I kind of doubt that what we are seeing in these photos is the exact end product that we will see in the movies.
Thank you sir, it's good to be back.

Over at neogaf they notice that something was going on with Bofur's forehead-

Does anybody know if this was mentioned in the book?

It looks like a small axe with the handle broke off.

I don't recall ever reading anything about that.

Bofur is not singled out in the book very often. I would conjecture that the most likely origins of his head scar would be
[Show spoiler] an injury from the Battle of Five Armies, the battle with the Mirkwood spiders, the tussle with the Trolls, or a result of hitting his head in the barrel after his escape from the Elvenking's halls. Thumbing through the book, it is also mentioned that he also trips over Bilbo while in Beorn's house.
