I didn't think it looked fake, but I wasn't terribly impressed with the trailer overall - I have no doubts that it will be a brilliant film, and a superb addition to the LoTR series, but I just thought they went for "more swooping camera shots and slight action sequences" than actually trying to show what's in the film. There must have been at least 10 sequences that made up the trailer that were primarily swooping shots of landscapes with tiny characters in the distance somewhere in the frame.

Still excited for this, though.

LotR looked like movies. All of the pics for The Hobbit that have been released and the trailers make it look like actors wearing costumes. Even Gandalf.

I was never a huge LOTR fan (book or films), but kind of adopted it because I loved The Hobbit. I didn't hate it, but I was never blown away by it. I'm not sure if it's just the way this trailer was cut, but this film seems like it will have the "adventure" and excitement I seem to remember while reading The Hobbit.

Ok, so in the trailer when
[Show spoiler]radagast is talking and petting the ferret there is a split second where it appears that something starts crashing through his roof / window near the roof. Kinda looked like a couple of legs. Do the Mirkwood Crawlies attack him or does something else happen to him?

Well it pretty much confirms that
[Show spoiler]The Wargs/Eagles is the ending. Actually this follows Fellowship to a T in terms of pacing.

Hobbiton (Hobbit) / Hobbiton (FOTR)

Trolls/ Gandalf Dol Guldur (Hobbit) / Bree/Weathertop (FOTR)

Rivendell (Hobbit) / Rivendell (FOTR)

Goblin Town (Hobbit) / Moria (FOTR)

Riddle Game (Hobbit) / Lothlorien (FOTR)

Wolves/ Eagles (Hobbit) / Breaking of Fellowship (FOTR)

+1

For those who are concerned that the trailers don't show enough action, or by the way they look...don't be...just remember that "The Hobbit" is a much different story than "The Lord of the Rings," and on top of that, they're not going to show all the great moments in the trailer in order to build up anticipation. I have no doubt whatsoever that this upcoming trilogy is going to be phenomenal.

I personally loved the new trailer. So far it feels like they have done a great job nailing the tone of the book!

[Show spoiler]Was thinking the same thing. This will be one of the many "granted liberty" scenes that PJ will have added. I guess we will have to wait and see?

Have to admit, all 4 of the "alternate endings" are much better than ending of the initial version of the trailer.

[Show spoiler]Was that Beorn or Radagast?
I was trying to think where I have heard that score before, and then it came to me:

Jump to 1:23

It almost sounds like the same song in the Hobbit trailer after 1:40
