Just brilliant. I love how it's a slightly more rustic and old-fashioned version of the theme, from more relaxed and simple times.

What did you go for - 2D? 3D? Any variation of IMAX, 48FPS, etc?

Bought mine for imax! 3D 24fps was the only one that you could pick out your seats so I got the best seats in the house!

2D. The closest 48FPS is about 45 mins away.

You going to see it in 2D or 3D Benny? I/We went with 2D. I cannot handle 3D on that big of a screen for that long of a time! Makes me !

What's weird is that I can watch 3D on my TV at home!

Hopefully it'll be worth the trip later on in the run. My first time will be 2D as well, simply because it's the biggest screen my cinema has - plus I want to re-renter Middle-Earth the same way I left it.

Have got a 3D screening and a 3D IMAX - and hopefully 48fps as well - screening both sorted as well. All for opening weekend. I can't wait

half an hour and 50 minutes of footage is likely to be added to the extended version blu ray .

An Unexpected Journey will be 2 hours and 40 minutes long

I went back but didn't see this. Is there a variation that will be shown that is 48 FPS that is not 3D? I agree with above. I couldn't sit this long in a 3-D format

I got two Fandango tickets on Groupon for $8 (total ), used one for Wreck-It Ralph on opening day, and am guarding the other very, very closely...

Unfortunately, our Cinemark is stocked with everything BUT 48FPS, but in this case, it's worth breaking my rule about "Don't go to see 3D in a theater, it's better at home!"

I accidentally bought mine in 3D, since they didn't label the times. Then I had to re-buy them in 2D and wait for a refund. Luckily, I have 3D 48FPS, down the street from me, which I will check out at a later date, but I didn't want to be distracted on my first viewing.

Concerning the 3D in 48 FPS. This will ease alot of the eye strain, most people have when viewing 3D. 24 Frames per eye (sort of). So I don't think the 3 hour length will be that bad in 3D at 48FPS.

Oh, how quickly things change in a month...

Since that story was posted the 'confirmation' of the Extended Edition has been taken back by Warners leaving them in question and the running time is currently sitting at 2 hours and fifty minutes.
