OK guys...which Wargs do you prefer?

The ones from the 2 towers -

[Show spoiler]

Or the re-imagined ones from the Hobbit -

I liked the ones from the Hobbit. Those from LotR just looked like overgrown puppies with bad attitude.

I'm a fan of the original Two Towers design.

Gotta say i'm opting for the latter design, not a fan at all of Jackson's Two Towers Wolfbear combo thingy. The new ones are exactly how i imagined them from reading the book as a child.

I like both, but given the fact that Saruman probably bred his own wargs there is some room for different kinds of wargs. Given the description in the Hobbit, I like the new wargs better for the story.

I finally received Brian Sibley's The Hobbit Official Movie Guide {http://www.amazon.com/Hobbit-Unexpec...t+brian+sibley) and Jude Fisher's movie visual companion (http://www.amazon.com/Hobbit-Unexpec...it+jude+fisher) from Amazon yesterday. If the movie guide is any indication, the attention to detail in these films is phenomenal, perhaps among the greatest of any movie ever made. The visual companion has one of the best maps of Middle-earth I have seen. The only caveat is that it cuts out most of Gondor and Mordor south of Udun. I plan on reading the official movie guide while on travel next week.

Just as long as you do not say that they look like the ones from TWILIGHT.

Whoa!

I am going to have to check those out at my local bookstore.

Also, I have a funny feeling that after all these films are done, that the original FotR film trilogy will somewhat forgotten. These films just might be a HUGE cut above the ones from ten years ago.

We will see.

I dont think they will be forgotten, but i do think TTT and ROTK will be seen as the weaker of the bunch. I know those two have their fans and i like a lot about them but the pacing in both is a mess. The films practically stop when we cut back to frodo/sam. Its one thing i love already about the hobbit films. We wont have to deal with that in these films. Two characters on their own...walking and walking and walking. For the most part our group will stay together.

Forgotten? LOL. 3 groundbreaking films, the last of which won 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture (the first win for a fantasy film - it always amazes me how many people forget what a big deal that was). The LotR films have cemented their place in cinematic history. They won't be forgotten. The books have gotten on pretty well for 55-60 years, you know.

That is only gandalf tho, right? He is interesting on his own. Much more so than two hobbits and an emaciated bipolar critter trekking through wilderness.

Can't say for sure, but I would surmise Gandalf doesn't kick the Necromancer out of a castle by himself.

What im getting at is that that storyline is already more interesting than two hobbits and a tweaking smeagol walking and *****ing and looking scared. Frodo and Sams scenes always bored me. I dont see gandalfs scenes doing that. It isnt all peters fault tho. LOTR is written in an odd way focusing on one group of characters and then going back to focus on another. They dont really function well together when cutting back and forth.

Well, 13 dwarfs and a hobbit lost in Mirkwood for a very long time, looking scared, might give you flashbacks. One has to assume that's going to make up a huge swath of Part II.
