Kinda reminds me of one of those hair metal rockers from the 80's.

Looks like he should be holding a Fender Stratocaster.

wonder when the run time will be announced. very anxious to hear the length on this one. I would expect a shorter run time than the first part but with Peter Jackson who knows.

You're obsessed with run times

I imagine we'll get an idea in October/November when tickets go on sale. Here in the UK cinemas are given an approximate runtime when this happens and it comes direct from the studio taken from the then-current edit. Skyfall, Hobbit and Man of Steel all ended up being accurate to about a minute.

It'll probably be shorter considering what parts of the book it's covering, but I could be wrong.

I'd expect it to be longer. There's plenty to get through until we get to Bilbo and Smaug (which we will, as seen in the trailer), and that's assuming the book stops there and not with
[Show spoiler]the attack on Laketown
. We have Beorn, Mirkwood, the Elves, Barrels, Laketown, journey across the Desolation, exploration of Erabor's sides and scouting out the tunnel and Bilbo riddling with Smaug. And that's not including any of the White Council/Dol Guldur subplot - we know we see Radagast and Gandalf go back to explore it and chances are
[Show spoiler]we'll see the Council attack it
in this film as well.

And all of those are new places as well (as opposed to The Shire/Rivendell in AUJ) so they'll need establishing and time spent in them, especially Laketown. The trailer shows that we'll have plenty of time with the elves and hopefully we'll spend some decent time with Beorn. The Mirkwood scene should be nice and juicy as well.

And all of that's without including the Azog subplot and whatever flashbacks we get to Gandalf and Thrain (Seen in the trailer).

True, it could well be longer especially if more of the appendices are used again.

I don't think that too much will be crammed in though seeing as there's still one more film to go afterwards and the entire
[Show spoiler]Battle Of Five Armies
sequence.

Anyone who knows Jackson knows he edits right up until the last minute, so a runtime released right now wouldn't be accurate anyway.

A Russian distributor leaked a runtime of 164 minutes mid-October, and a few days later an Empire's interview with Jackson gave a runtime of 160 minutes. On 23rd October, UK cinemas putting tickets on sale were told by Warners that it would be 170 minutes - and it turned out to 169 minutes.

So, as I say, assuming the UK gets its tickets on sale that early again (and it will probably be around the same time - last year it was timed to get the Skyfall audience, this year I imagine it will aim for the Thor audience which opens 30th October) then that should gives us a pretty accurate runtime if we haven't already found out by then.

The Tauriel/Legolas love scene will make up at least half the film. Gotta cover all the quadrants.

Thank ya sir!

One more question though. Who are the two Blue Wizards Gandalf talks about when Bilbo asks if there are other Wizards?

Anyone have any idea what we're getting as far as the new footage? I'm debating whether or not I should wait and get all the extended editions together. Although I guess that'll be awhile...
