I just finished rewatching The Hobbit Extended and all the appendices, the LOTR extended and all its appendices. I'm so ready for this movie.

I usually go to Forum 8. I don't like Stadium 14 for some reason.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was one of my favorite movies last year; reading that many people are enjoying it more than the first film has me even more optimistic. I cannot wait!

Sorry to to have to tell you this, but this film no matter how good it is doesn't make the flaws of the first suddenly disappear.

I am so excited for this film!

Do you guys think that I should see this in regular 3D first or HFR? Granted I have never seen HFR, but I think it might ruin my enjoyment of the film.

It didn't ruin my enjoyment, it made it memorable and more fun for me.

Thanks for the reply!

I think I will check out the HFR 3D first considering it's the first time I have seen the new format and it definitely sounds interesting.

Going to buy tickets later this week. AMC has a theater in Kansas City now that has Dolby Atmos and subwoofers under every seat, and then I just found that my hometown is showing it in high frame rate 3D so I'll check that out a few days after. Can't wait!

Or war films, like Saving Private Ryan and Full Metal Jacket? In Tolkien's books, the various societies and cultures didn't send their females to war, unless I'm very mistaken, which is why Eowyn had to keep her involvement in the War of the Ring a secret, and both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are, in a sense, espionage war stories.
You can add The Great Escape to that list. In today's PC culture, any film will be criticized if it doesn't have any major female characters.

We're in luck then that no such flaws existed.

Oh for gods sake no film is perfect, that film included. Take off the blinders and come back to objective reality. Ya know its possible to admit a films weaknesses and flaws and still enjoy it, right?

I will never be objective of anything Peter Jackson directs, Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch star in and anything that takes place in Middle Earth. It is physically impossible for me.

Only "flaws" I've heard of are it being too long. Couldn't possibly disagree harder on that.

Same.

I never felt that it was as long as it was. I am enamored with being back in The Shire, all the back story of the Erebor and one of my favorite things from the book was the silly songs growing up and they nailed all of that in the film.

I don't understand what people find so wrong with the movie. It's not as serious as LOTR, but it isn't supposed to be either.
