Jackson confirms the Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition will contain 25-26 minutes of new footage in a new interview.

"The Smaug movie, we’ve got 25 or 26 minutes of pretty good stuff for that DVD. The first one, there wasn’t that much we left on the cutting room floor and it wasn’t earth shattering. But this is worthwhile stuff that you haven’t seen before."

Not to rain on the die-hard fans' parade, but it looks meh, alright. Nothing spectacular, nothing crappy. Just the same type of look that the first 2 Hobbit films had. And don't get me wrong, I was pleasantly surprised by Two Towers and RotK once I finally saw them. But this trilogy just appears to not be in that original trilogy's league IMO.

Looks good to me. And it appears as if there's another rollercoaster type action scene for people to complain about! Yay!

I loved the heck outta the barrel sequence, and I will probably love the heck outta the one in this film.

Completely agree,definitely looked "meh," a rehash of the first 2 movies. And why did they have to reuse Pippen's song? just adds to the "been there, done that" feeling.

The second poster looks cheesy as well. He's not Conan, he's a hobbit!

Never got around to seeing Desolation Of Smaug at the theater or even on BD. I am waiting for the extended set and will probably do the same with this one. Really enjoyed the extended An Unexpected Journey.
