Well, the players http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...-canio-2295967 and apparently thee ownership http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...rt%5Eheadlines

got what they wanted (Di Canio out), personally, if you’re going to hire him in the first place, I would have given him more time to make a go of it this season.

I don’t think his sacking was based upon the team's results as Byrne asserts in the article. Given the happenings over the past few days, I believe, for better or worse (to be determined) it was based upon his managerial style and his ‘results’ were used as the excuse to let him go.

I believe things came to a head following an emergency meeting between staff and players. Good to see Kevin Ball get his chance in the dugout. For those who don't know, he was a very committed, tough tackling centre half-come midfielder who was loved by us fans when he played in the red and white stripes. He fell in love with the place and the fans.

Well I didn't know (anything about Kevin Ball) and that's good to know, which is why I follow this thread when I can.

Poyet is now favourite apparently. Another volatile character in my opinion.

You guys bet on everything over there.

Is there a website giving the current odds on who's to get the job?

Man U and City losing on the same day is a beautiful thing.

Please do, I'm interested in always learning more about English football, despite the fact I watched American football being played in London today!

Better yet, the Steelers lost which is good for my Ravens.

Your Sunderland players played with much more enthusiasm today, despite not winning. That's something positive to take away from the match.

We did, but it's points that count. I would prefer playing poorly and stealing a win to be honest. A club of our size cannot afford to drop into the championship, however it looks like we are indeed going to drop. The horrific fixture list certainly has not helped matters. Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U, Newcastle, Man city, Chelsea. Easily the worst home fixtures I can remember in my lifetime.

No we still need to bring in a defender and defensive midfielder which Arsene wenger should have done in the transfer window.
our test will come when we play the likes of man.united , Chelsea , and Liverpool in our fixtures the only test for us so far was spurs.

I second that. I much rather have Arsenal win than either of those other two. But I hope Everton will have something to say about that.
We're also right there near the top with another win today, although we almost gave away the 3 goal lead in the second half. I wasn't too happy about that.

Don't be so ungrateful! My team are stuck on 1 point! We would certainly settle for a close 3 2 win.
All joking aside, I was impressed with you lot. Good football and what an awkward customer you have upfront. Deserved win.
