The dream was never dead from where I'm sitting. If it happens I think I'll enjoy it more than you will, and that's from someone who will never forget being robbed at Wembley in the last minute by Stevie Claridge's ****ing shin.

It doesn't get more devastating. We lost to Charlton in a penalty shootout! I feel your pain. Especially as it was a Sunderland lad (Clive Mendonca) who scored a hat trick against us in that game.

Wasn't that the barmy 4-4 game? It's crazy how the EPL playoff has basically become the cup final that ends the English season instead of the FA Cup, but then money talks...

Yes. It is a completely different experience to a league cup final. I enjoyed every moment of that weekend. With the play offs, there is too much at stake and if you lose it just kills the weekend or rest of experience)

I was at Wembley when we got outplayed by Swindon in play offs 20 odd years ago. I have yet to see us win at Wembley.

I was sitting on the porcelain palace at work watching it on an iPad when super Kev scored the penalty that put Palace into the big time once again. Palace generally have rather good form in the playoffs so I'd booked that day off months in advance, but then my boss went and put in two weeks for a foreign holiday with the Monday of the play off final smack bang in the middle, so I had to work.

Didn't Wickham already get in trouble with the FA?

Also, is that the player from Sunderland? I swear he had like three years left on his contract with them didn't he?

Yeah, the board got all excited because he scored 4 or 5 goals to keep us up. That is all he has done in 4 years. Was glad to get rid, especially for that price. I didn't really want him to go to Palace because I like Geoff!
