Had a few days off here over Christmas. Didn't stuff myself with turkey or alcoholic beverages. Watched Match of the Day on Boxing Day night.

Even though we lost against Arsenal (they're one of West Brom's bogey sides, like Stoke City), like when we played some of the other big Premiership teams lately, we've only lost by 1-0, and our goal difference has been in the positive for a change. Our defence did well to keep Arsenal out until late in the game.

We've got Southampton on New Year's Eve, and Hull next Monday (2nd January).

Chris Coleman has done great with the Welsh national side (I hope they qualify for the next World Cup), so he could do well at Swansea. But I'd rather him stay with Wales.

The penultimate edition of the autumn-early winter series of Have I Got News for You, which Gary Lineker presented, was I thought very funny, partly because of regular panellist Paul Merton's co-panellist (a leather handbag). It reminded me of the infamous edition when his co-panellist was a tub of lard.

If anyone is going to a game over the New Year period, then safe travels to and from the games.

That was a rubbish first half, even with that equalizer at the end there. We look so inept on offensive, it's painful to watch. And for the first 8-10 minutes we didn't even defend. Koeman has got some things to address at halftime.

Is West Brom's game tomorrow at Southampton still going ahead? Saw on the news earlier tonight about the fog in the south.

Well, the fog cleared and the match went ahead. Every game in the Premiership is going to be hard, it's bound to be. This coming Monday's game against Hull (at home?) is going to be tricky, and today's game I wasn't sure which way it would go, as Southampton were around the same place as us in the table.

Former Albion player Shane Long scored the first goal of the match, then thank goodness we scored not long after (Phillips scored our first goal). And I was very glad Kanu scored the second goal. Think we're now one point behind Everton (with the win today we're back up to 8th in the table).

Come on Geoff don't give up its always hard to play against a Sam Allardyce team and you got a draw against us at the Emirates last season.

**** me what a goal. WHAT. A. GOAL. I was on my feet applauding that one, not just for the finish but the build-up which highlighted both teams nicely: Palace can't pass for toffee, Arsenal can pass the ball in their sleep. I was gonna say that I hope Giroud doesn't play because he always seems to score against us, and so it's proved once again.

This Palace team simply isn't good enough, sorry. And no, I'm not downbeat because we're getting beaten by far the better team, I'm downbeat because we've been masquerading as a Premier League team for a full year and when May rolls around we'll reap what we've sown.

As I said: well done on the three points, Tob.

Palace's defending has been shambolic all season, and while no-one could've stopped the first goal today the rest of it was Keystone Cops levels of laughable. The Swansea game on Tuesday isn't just a 6-pointer but a 12-pointer...

You won't go down mate. Not a chance and you can bookmark this post if you like mate!

Happy new year everyone. SAFC are still shit! That is all. Different year, same shit!

Mixed results for us. Congrats to Arsenal on great goal and win, sorry Geoff but Sam will have you well drilled and come the end of the transfer window you will be sound.

West Brom sitting pretty but Everton seem a bit out of sorts, hope you pick up Gvortex.

We were absolutely dreadful for about 70 minutes, and then when Valencia came on and scored our first things started to happen for us. Another beautiful finish by Lukaku. He deserved a goal after his hard work in the second half. Also Baines has definitely become our penalty taker. He is one cool customer from that spot. After dropped 3 points against Hull (whom we should have beaten handily), I'm glad we picked up three more, especially considering that Wrest Brom is on our asses now.

That was a hell of a game against Liverpool for you today Steed. I watched it because that's the one that was televised here on NBCSN. I'm glad you were able to at least get a point against them. They're a pretty tough opponent at the moment, so getting a draw against them is definitely an accomplishment.
