I'm certainly not trying to argue with you, Dave... I have the disc and have viewed it. I agree that there are some problem areas, but I do see some similarities in color timing on several of the common shots.

It's the crushed blacks and softness that are the major problems. Coppolla and Zoetrope can play with the palate to their heart's content.
But now there is detail that is just gone.


If the transfer just looked dim, washed out because of the film elements, fine. But seeing the EXACT same shots in HD in the new documentaries looking MUCH better makes you realize that someone screwed the pooch.
Take this for example, in the SB dvd, it is CLEAR that the words from Harker's journal are superimposed over the shot of him at the door in the castle. in the BD, because it's SO much darker, flatter and crushed, you can barely see them at all and would NEVER register that these are "words: that have been superimposed.

No, it's worse than a joke - it is sheer, unmitigated FUD.

That posting is designed to get some morons writing about a possible Warner switch to BD, without any evidence at all.

There are some BD-biased journalists that watch blu-ray.com and print almost anything that is said there.

By getting a story like this into credible magazines and papers, the BD camp hope to create enough fear, uncertainty and doubt to SLOW DOWN the HD DVD hardware and software sales.

I am certain that this is nothing but a false campaign to try to get a story printed somewhere.

HOWEVER - HERE is what HD DVD supporters should do:

(1) Look out for any respectable websites or newspapers that carry this false rumour.

(2) Report them to me at campaignhd @t gmail d0t com

(3) write to the media, complaining of what journalist and/or editor would publish such false information on the basis of a "rumour" poster, without verifying ANY of the information, or even waiting for "10am" to hear the supposed announcement.

I think the post there has been made almost entirely to create false reports in mainstream media by bd-biased reporters, to attempt to create FUD in buyers and slow down HD DVD's momentum.
