So... is it correct? Are there $200 Blu-ray players coming to Wal-Mart?

patrick99..................
Second that. I don't know how Paidgeek has the patience to respond to Mr. A's nonsense. I would not be able to do it.
Well, I think it’s obvious many of us feel that AVS is simply a podium or bully pulpit for Micro$oft which is why many here affectionately refer to it as AVMS given the crowd it attracts and protects.

In regards to individual insiders described above, I think over the course of time it has become evident even to the most jaded followers that paid’s and talk’s primary functions are to prevent the spread of FUD, and this shows in the way they handle themselves.

Whereas, with the A-man…… his is to promote FUD whenever the opportunity arises.
Remember the way he endorsed the notion (after a set-up post by amillians) that Phase Hydra was some sort of clandestine conspiracy with anonymous viral marketers invading the internet , the BD50 science fiction thing, the mandatory 48 hr. time given to Sony compressionists to do their encodes, etc. The FUD floated by him seems endless.

Punctuated of course by exceedingly classless acts like on more than one occasion by referring to talk or paid by what he thinks are their first names, obviously being against their wishes.

Yes, posting there is not much different than entering a Red diamond rattlesnake den.

It sounds like we got a couple of different confirmations from different people that the deal is being negotiated, but it still has to be sealed in blood!

If it's true and get's contracted....BD players for the fam for Christmas! Things are looking mighty good for BD!

Ask talk or beat, I'm not working that.
Later.
Back to the trenches.

As I am reading the post's here, my attention was diverted to my tv which is tuned to HD Movies. The commercial that grabbed my attention while having my back to the tv was a new (at least to me) Blu Ray commercial. I've seen BD commercials before, just not this one. Maybe the payback has begun !!!

top marks to Penton, Talk and Beat, but i really would urge caution, *IF* this isnt a done deal and doesnt come off then that would be a big fat load of hdfud user ammo, so please, lets just wait until we have something solid?

Hmmm,
I don't buy into the whole $200 player thing but it's fun to guess what the riddle means (even if it's bogus)

Maybe the 20 is in reference to the number of BDA members? "20 of my friends".

20 assumes that his 10 friends would have paid an average of $10 to go see the movie in theatres. It's only relevant to the math to arrive at the "$199", possibly coded further as "savings", meaning cheap.

Could be the new price of Blu-ray titles at Wally World.

Let's cool down the speculation and hope that an Insider can confirm this soon. We don't want the relevant posts to be burried under pages of speculation.

OK, sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but I thought my response was clearly tongue-in-cheek. I'd love for it to be true, but I have no information to share.

That's ok, Talk. I figured the was a dead giveaway, but wanted to be sure. Looks like we'll have to continue waiting for confirmation.

in the current climate i would rather see it confirmed than not. paramount snuck up on a lot of folk, warner could pull your pants down and get the vaseline out for all we know, so i aint getting excited at all. Sorry, but thats the way i feel right now.

You know, if you're going to bribe someone, go after Toshiba. I'm sure they must be hurting from all the under priced players they're selling. I'd love to see Warner, Paramount and Universal trying to sell a format that effectively doesn't exist anymore . I know there's been some discussions earlier, but perhaps it's time to start them up again? Toshiba knows by now that HD DVD won't ever win the format war and what Microsoft is up to - it would be in their best interest to make sure HDM itself is a success instead of bleeding money and crippling both HD DVD and Blu-ray in the long term.

At least that's my feedback to the insiders.
