I have a question for any insider. Can someone tell me why Sony keeps releasing trailers on the PS3 for Paramount movies? This past week alone, the Iron Man trailer was released. I was under the impression that only movies from Blu-ray supporting studios were all that we could download from the PS store, is this not the case? I have never seen a Universal movie available for download from the PS store.

Also, as a recommendation, how about releasing trailers for Blu-rays that are coming out on the following Tuesday? It would help to inform those that may not be aware that a movie they are looking to purchase on Blu-ray will be released the following week.

Thanks

Can you make any sort of ballpark estimate on what a player with this SoC could sell for? As you know, the only announced player with DTS-MA decoding on board is the rather costly Denon, and it would be good to know if it was possible to build one with that feature at a significantly lower price point (say between $500 and $1k).
Supporting DTS-HD MA decoding in the player need not increase the cost of a player except that there might be a little more royalities associated with it, but nothing big.

For the same reason Fox and Disney sell things on Xbox Live. It's a good venue for them to advertise and Sony or Microsoft are happy to accept their $$.

Iron Man is a Sony release overseas as well

Does any insider know what is going on with Weinstein? I searched the forums, and somebody said Weinstein will announce neutrailty anyday now. But didn't they say in 2006 that they were going neutral in Early 2007? Have they sold out again to M$ and/or To$hiba?

They're going to announce HD format Grindhouse pretty soon that will be on both

Their rental is exclusive to Blockbuster, they can;t afford not to be neutral

Cool. I was also wondering whether the BB announcement would affect them. Plus they work with MGM, so that could also push them to go neutral. Thanks for the info!

Hey, me too! What are the odds?! It's a small world...

EDIT: Hey, it's Saturday night and I got a little buzz going, so I'm thinking, what the hey, I'm going to share this with you: this very moment I am watching a BD that is highly anticipated by, oh, only probably 95% of the people who frequent this forum. And it's a beauty. Pure reference-level AVC encode on a BD-50 with audio that is going to shake your foundation. Don't crank this up if you're renting. And to think that some people said they wouldn't buy this when the final disc specs were announced... Their loss, it just doesn't get much better than this. I'd use a catchphrase here to sign off, but that would give it away...

The SamsugnBD-P1400 had a FW update not long ago and it is now a DTS-MA player with a 450 price tag, now go buy it or i'll smithe you.

Well, except for the small detail that it is NOT a DTS-MA player, it will merely output the bitstream if you have a corresponding HDMI 1.3a receiver with DTS-MA decoding. The player will not decode the stream itself, unlike most players and TrueHD.

Transformers is a known quantity though, and Iron Man has a major chance of being terrible

Yes it'll definately be on Blu in Japan, I fully believe it will be here as well though.

Iron Man (and The Incredible Hulk) are Sony releases overseas, so they will be on Blu imports.

Yup in both Spain and Japan so even if they're region coded one will be "A" and one will be "B"
