Paidgeek has stated mulitple times he is not in that department and can't comment.
Paid, he is asking when Sony is going to fix it so that all 720p games will scale to 1080i if you have a old CRT that does 480p and 1080i only resolutions. |

Paidgeek, seeing as someone else touched on "outside the US"....
in your "intro" post on the first page of this thread, you say that "I do think the Blu-ray format is better than HD-DVD in key areas and especially for Europe" Why especially for Europe?? |

Not sure if this really qualifies as a question, as I don't expect we can get an answer. So, maybe a suggestion within a question.
Given that Paramount bragged about beating the record that 300 held for most sales on a format in the first week, while the subsequent Videoscan First Alert data shows numbers that are about 20% higher for 300 on Blu-ray than Transformers on HD DVD, how does Warner feel about the claim from Paramount about beating their record? Do studios tend to care about things like this? Isn't the main guy who speaks for Warner now an ex-Disney employee. Maybe somebody at Disney who knows him should call him up and see how he feels. ![]() --Darin |

Sorry to rant - my question is: Should 1080i only HDTV owners ever expect that 720p 0nly PS3 games will be upscaled by the PS3, or will there be a mandate by Sony that all developers do as Naughty Dog did and add the support in game. From what the developer writes it appears to be simple to add upscaling in-game and further that they were not even aware. My suggestion: if ther eis no intention for hardware upscaling of PS3 games then Sony make all developers aware of this issue and express the benefit$ of adding this user desired support. Thanks Also I acknowledge that perhaps no one of the insiders here can provide answers for various reasons, so I request that if you are un able to answer at the least past these concerns on to any persons who may be effective in addressing them. You can count the major catalog title from SPE on one hand. We will have several of them out next year with at least one in the Spring. If you have seen the critical reviews of some other older titles, you will understand why we are being cautious about releasing these.

Do any Insiders have influence over at Warner? If so, since they're supposedly holding back Batman Begins until The Dark Knight is released is there any way you could suggest they release Batman: Mask of the Phantasm on Blu as well?

You probably have seen in some earlier posts that we are releasing title with multiple lossless audio tracks. Our intention is to support all the major dubbed languages with lossless just has we have it for the original track in the US. This is difficult or impossible to do with HD-DVD because they don't have either the disc capacity or bandwidth. We have also released titles with up to 8 different audio dubs on a single disc. This means a single title version can cover all territories where it might otherwise not have been released at all due to the costs of creating all the required versions. And don't let anyone try to convince you that DD+ is just as good to most consumers ears as lossless. It's not, and you can prove it to yourself if you have an HD-DVD player and pick up some titles that have both stream types on the same disc. Last edited by paidgeek; 10-27-2007 at 05:25 AM. |

I suppose I'm lucky English is my spoken language and I can buy my discs from the US, but yes that is good that you're satisfying my cousins on the European mainland!!! Funny; I was in Belgium last weekend with my brother and a friend of ours and we got by with barely a word of French and no Flemish between us. But, has major research been done to find out if non-English speakers want a sondtrack in their own language?? Personally, when I watch a foreign language movie I prefer to listen to the original language with English subtitles. |

I have watched so much German TV growing up, and most of it was dubbed. Even regular TV shows like Married with Children etc. etc. Edit: Except for little kid's movies. I know most european countries play two versions of kids movies in the theatres. One dubbed and one subtitled. Think for instance "little Mermaid", "tarzan", "Jungle book" etc. etc. |

Paidgeek,
I imagine this isn't your area (and I'm positive you have bigger fish to fry) but here goes anyway. Would it be possible to bury some of those excellent Bravia commercials down in the Special Features menu of a Sony release here and there? I'm talking about the frequently forwarded internet sensations such as Pyramid, Paint, Play-Doh and Balls: http://www.bravia-advert.com/commerc...tcommhigh.html I for one would love to see a reference-grade encode of these on my set at home. Thanks for your time! Last edited by J6P; 10-27-2007 at 02:08 AM. |

I have seen Australian soap operas dubbed into German on sat TV. I couldn't believe it. France seems to like dubbed movies too... though perhaps not as much...

I imported 4 BD discs from Amazon US even with S&H I ended up saving approx $10ea movie (not much but it adds up) There's also that sometimes locally released versions are cut down, devoid of extras, take forever to be released here, etc. |

It's been reported that the PS3 will receive firmware upgrade 2.0 but nothing is mentioned about BD1.1 spec, Paid would you have any further info as to whether or not 1.1spec will be included in this update?
