Well I had my 2 cents and of course I am an ass because of it. So be it Amir is a bully as long as he has his ants, but remember all choices he has made can and will come back to haunt him. Having read the AV$ forum over the past day or so, I really have to say that I feel sorry for Talkstr8t. That poor boy takes more abuse than anyone I know. He must love pain. Do you notice how the opposition attacks almost every word he types? It's almost as bad as Bill Clinton's "it depends on what your definition of the word "is" is. I mean really, if he has even one typo, they're all over him.

And Amir attacking Richard Casey after he signed off was just a real low blow.

Thank God for this forum, where most postings are of a positive nature and people treat each other fairly well.

Had a quick look, I don't know who's right or wrong, but this reply from amirm seems a little off:-

Is this kind of hounding and general insults towards (BD supporting) insiders really accepted on AVS?

Reading on a little further I see someone defends Rich, and is himself lambasted.

Take is easy geeeeeez. Rich does not need a personal online bodyguard (we can see your post history, here and there).

How about just commenting on this points?

If these are the kind of repsonses BD insiders recieve on AVS, surely they should either walk away completely, or post on mass giving factual information, rather than letting one person be overun by HD-DVD fanboys?

Here's the confusion:

This time around, the studio apparently going the full disclosure route, revealing to Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits that while all five versions of the film included on the next-gen releases are being mastered in actual 1080p video, all of supplementary materials (including the new documentary "Dangerous Days," and the deleted scenes) will be presented in 480p standard definition only.

According to Hunt, Warner says the reason for this has nothing to do with disc space on either format, but rather the compressed time schedule in which the various extras are being produced.

So mastered in 1080p. Yet PRESENTED in 480p. That would be regular old DVD. And I'm assuming the different cuts are being counted as 'supplementary materials'.

A clue to the format used for each disc is the price. $39.95 for 5 Blu-ray discs? That's a nice little bargain - if true.

Sounds more like the price for 1 Blu-ray disc and 4 SD DVD discs.

Can any insider clarify this atall?

I have just assumed all along that it is one BD disc and 4 sd dvd's, especially at this price.

From what I've read on those forums since they decided to redo their HD forum, I think it's actually gotten more biased at times. Richard is a good man, trying to put out a quality product for both formats, and the Red Insiders and their followers continue to bash him for actually putting something worth having out for their side. I just wish Richard would give up on those idiots and come where he's wanted.

I have an idea for an short film, an spoof on the format war where the Blu-ray disc crew are the Blu-ray Swat team and the HD-DVD forum are the mafia/drug dealers. Amir is the leader of the mafia/drug dealers and Penton-Man is the Chief inspector of the Blu-ray Swat team.

Richard’s been a bone stuck in their collective craw ever since he published that title on both formats. He could go on that forum and state that the sky is clear and blue and 20 people would instantly argue with him that it’s cloudy and raining outside. Same thing with Talkstr8t. It’s what they represent.

I've always assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that they'd use seamless branching for at least some of the various cuts. If any insider can shed some light on what's going on with this (are they really using BDs for all the discs; are they really giving each cut it's own disc or are they doing the sane thing and using seamless branching) it'd be more than welcome. I mean, I want this to be a great set on BD, but having seen Warner neuter releases (even HD DVD "exclusive" stuff like The Matrix) I wasn't getting my hopes up.

If I had a nickel for eveytime I read that statement, I think I'd have enough to buy one of the upcoming Denon players... or 1,000 clearance HD DVD players. Personally, I'll take the Denon.

I think this Blade Runner talk should be moved to a different post, but I'd always assumed that it was 5 blu rays and was amazed at the price. It would make more sense for it to be 1 Blu and 4 DVDs. If that is the case I'm not buying it.
