Was the poor composition of Sam entering Mount Doom fixed in the new release?
The LOTR thread is locked. Tip: Ban/lock users, not threads. |

I hope Geoff posts his LOTR evaluation in here. This thread needs to be renamed "Middle Earth Saga 4K UHD Extended & Theatrical (2001-2014)" since it now has to cover all 6 films. Last edited by Cook; 12-07-2020 at 02:44 AM. |

And bought. Thanks for confirming it was identical to the US release. This might be the last time I buy these movies physically. DVD, Blu-ray and now UHD.

Watched Unexpected Journey tonight. Even though I am a huge fan of the LOTR, I have only seen the Hobbit films once, so it’s exciting to see them all again. Was very impressed with the transfer and the sound mix. The HDR steals the show and makes the vistas absolutely gorgeous. Height channels are very active and create an immersive soundstage. Very happy with this release and looking forward to the next two chapters.

These come with a WB survey (code on back of the digital copy) that may help with saving physical media or kill it, depends on how you answer. It's worth a shot. Spread the word.

My personal preference is: Fellowship of the Ring Extended The Two Towers Extended Return of the King Theatrical But the extended version of the Return of the King has scenes that I like so I watch that version occasionally. |

They literally had to deliver the film the same day (for the premiere I think) and so yeah, it's rushed and it shows alas. |

Extended are better. You will also find more fantasy action in extended specially Part 3 which have some standout sequences that were cut from theatrical. I think for LOTR - PJ's preferred version is theatrical For Hobbit, his preferred version is extended |
