Ditto here.

Possibly when MicroLEDs hit the market

Isn't every plasma TV more "antique" than the Z9D by default?

Or perhaps a little sooner with MiniLED.

If not, the Z9D will remain lonely at the top even longer...

Thanks for letting us know. That post was very valuable, so I'll read it again.

Not so. It all depends where the TV is placed in the home.

Dark room, possibly
Bright room, no

Generally, yes they do. However, not in all areas because plasma didn't come with HDR and very limited brightness. The Z9D was close in PQ, if only you watched directly in front of the TV. The viewing angles on the Z9D are abysmal, so it's not really a TV for watching sports with guest over. Plasma and OLED are much better.

Micro-LEDs will be self-emissive as are OLEDs. That will be a game changer

No burn-in
Bright PQ
Perfect Blacks

All will be glorious

I just hope they don't crush blacks like OLED.

In theory, yes. But it’s all going to depend on the quality of LEDs. The CRI is just not there. Even the best LEDs today don’t produce light anywhere near as naturally as OLED. So they have an artificial unappealing look. For micro LED to dethrone OLED, the technology of LED has to evolve quite a bit. It will be interesting to see how it all works out. May take many years.

They're certainly the worst I have ever seen on any LCD.

All I can say is I never looked at any other TV model or OLED when I purchased this TV. I bought the 75 inch version of the Z9D. I am well educated on stereo equipment and televisions as it has been my hobby all my life. I have so enjoyed owning this television, I have never owned anything close. I have my theater room with my JVC projector, and have this upstairs and before this Z9D I owned many televisions but every time I turn this on and watch it I am still amazed at the picture. There may be other sets out there that claim to be better, and some maybe are, but I wouldn't be interested, that's how happy I am with this one.

I love the menusBefore my Z9D I owned one of Samsung's top TV's, and for a videophile, the amount of changes you can make on Samsung's menus is very minimal...not the Z9D...you can adjust virtually everything. The upscaling to 4k of blu-rays is simply beautiful. Watching 4k on 4k blu-ray and even streaming like YouTube or Disney+ is just incredible. Plus, I get to watch any of my over 400 3D blu-rays on it and the 3D picture is just gorgeous.

I am sure there will be a worthy replacement for this TV one day, but the sad part is these dam companies refuse to add 3D for those of us with 3D libraries of blu-rays. I get so mad when I think of how the manufacturers just left 3D fans in the dust. At least add it to a few of the top models, they know darn well there are alot of people with libraries of 3D blu-rays. Sony pushed 3D for a good amount of time, then just let us down. And from what I understand it is not that expensive to add the feature.

So I am taking great care with this TV. I had thought of even buying a 2nd one to have if this one conks out. That is basically all about the 3D feature. This TV was one of the most pleasing things I have ever purchased.

Noremack: This may be to some people an antique but it's a hell of a good one!

The active 3D glasses killed 3D TV. They gave some eyestrain and darkened the picture.

Greed killed it with 3D conversions instead of putting up the money for native 3D.

Heh, there's a reason why some "antiques" are so cherished by collectors

Nah, it's the ****tards who refused 3D conversions on general principal that killed 3D. But, as with any other gimmick, it's only as good as the people using it and that applies to native or converted 3D; some of my favourite 3D presentations are conversions. Instead of celebrating the format as a whole some folks just couldn't see past the specifications...just like the ingrained myopia of the "fake 4K" crowd, lol

I think they realized that people aren’t so stupid afterall. The quality of work they were putting out as well as horrid projection was pathetic to say the least. Jim will bring it back of course and greed will destroy it again.

That's the same "Jim" who post-converted two of his movies to 3D.

Funny, one of the main reasons I bought the ZD9 was because it was the last of the 3D sets. That didn't last long. My DLP projector destroys the 3D on the Sony in every way...plus it is a 150" image so immersion is a thing.

But I watched my first 4K movie on the set, and the HDR is so punchy, and crisp.
Never need another TV until this one dies. It does 4K beautifully, and that is all I want.

The man has talent. But he can only raise the bar so high. 99% of 3D content I would be ashamed to put my name on.

TBH a pair of analglyph glasses from a cereal packet destroys the 3D on the Sony, never mind anything else.

So you have the same threshold for this as for every 5" disc you've ever watched on any format then. Gotcha.
