How can it have the original 70mm audio? That's five screen channels and mono surround. What do you do with channels 2 and 4 (Left-Center and Right-Center)? Of course there was probably also a 4 track mag mix (LCRS), but it would still have mono surround.

Wow.
We watched the first half tonight.
I have a 120" AT screen, and jeez, it was such a pleasure to watch. I have had the previous BD for a couple years and never watched it, so I actually can't remember ever watching this movie larger than probably 50".
What a difference to see a gorgeous 2.20 screen with a perfect image edge to edge.
And the movie itself, better than I had remembered.
Can't wait for the second half.
Thanks a million to Robert A Harris and all his associates involved in this restoration.

It's clearly something other than just resolution.

But that's why we need to have the discussion, rather than just sweep it under the carpet.

I'm wondering if it's contrast. And if so, how much more unintended material might HDR throw up.

Just my luck I get a bad disc. I was able to watch part of film then I stopped it for a few minutes and it wouldn't play again. I'll hook up my 2nd BD player and try it on that before I start the process of exchanging it. Ugh
