Wonder away, Biff. Maybe the Universal elves are tinkering away just to f with everyone.
At some point when a film restoration is getting universally rave reviews, you're the one who is "off".
The major f'up with Spartacus has always been the hideous color timing. Everyone looks like they OD'd on fake suntan spray.
Maybe it's time to replace a 60" Kuro with something that hasn't lost it's gas.
Whatever, buddy, like I said your entitled to your opinion and I,m entitled to mine. If you can actually say this remaster is as good as those others, then I beg to differ. There is no way this is as good as the others, but what I will agree is more than likely is it is down to the way it was filmed, soft looking which hides some of the usual 4k attributes and which other remasters show in abundance, along with the sun tanned color timng, which is actually alot better on this remaster. Nothing wrong with my Kuro, still blows away all the latest competition as well as been calibrated to the nines. Based on Universal's past (including the recent Jaws, Apollo 13 and Breakfast Club which even though were excellent 4k masters they had to tinker) can you blame me for been suspicious. Its going to take a hell of alot for me to trust Universal again.

We get it late and at the higher price. What's the point of a pre-order?
Could have ordered it today and got the lower price AND it would have showed up at @ the same time.
Did you order from Amazon?

Since the price dropped the day after release Amazon will refund the difference. You should get a notification that it will be refunded to your credit card. And if you paid for shipping but it's late you'll get a refund for that to if you contact customer service.

Well, not quite. Sadly, they're still releasing some of those. But no longer for their top-tier catalog titles. Anything Universal seriously remasters from this point forward should be more or less consistently excellent. But they will still be using lousy DVD-era masters for their less prestigious catalog output. Though one can hope that perhaps they will at least stop adding gobs of additional DNR to the masters in an attempt to make them look "better"...a practice which led to many Universal BD releases looking worse than their HD-DVD counterparts.

That said, I applaud Universal for getting their priorities straight when it comes to the classic films that have rewarded them (in terms of both finances and accolades) for generations. They've been doing right by films like Double Indemnity, Touch of Evil, Apollo 13, and now Spartacus (among others), and I look forward to seeing more sterling work from them in the future. I only wish this new mindset had been in place prior to the release of their Hitchcock collection. That could have been the most incredible box set in the history of the format, if not for the extreme inconsistency in PQ.

But I don't want to digress from Spartacus too much here. The important thing right now is that this is the most gorgeous film restoration I have seen since Sony's amazing work on Lawrence of Arabia. Watching it, you just get swept away, into that world. The characters, particularly in close-up, appear so vital and real, that you almost feel as though you could reach out and touch them. The phrase "Looks like it was shot yesterday" gets thrown around a lot, but in this case, it applies. Spartacus now looks (and sounds!) like a brand new motion picture. Not in a revisionist way, but in a painstaking preservationist way. This is an incredible presentation of a landmark Hollywood epic. Thank you, Universal, and keep it up!

Unofficial policy is they'll give you the difference up to 7 days after release.

It was released on Tuesday and they dropped the price on Wednesday. Isn't that outside their guarantee?
I know I could call them and likely get an adjustment, but for $1.45--it seems a little petty.
I got the adjustment - it did seem petty, but I just did it via the live chat while I was browsing around. I wouldn't bother calling for $1.45.

I don't have Prime but I always got releases by Thur-Sat after the Tuesday release.
They are saying NEXT Monday to next Saturday-- that's lame. I would have just bought it at a B&M, but noone has it around here.
I've had them redeem me for a price adjustment after the day of release, but like you say for a $1.45 it's not really worth the effort. Doesn't hurt to try, but it's probably a YMMV situation.

As for the delay in your shipment, maybe a stocking issue or...a member over in the Dracula thread had a delay in their shipment and it was going to be two weeks before his copy of Dracula shipped out. Turns out they had placed their order with a 3rd party seller by mistake. Did you accidentally place your order with a 3rd party seller?

If not it's gotta be something to do with the way they are shipping with USPS now. It's one reason I finally paid for Prime. When they decided to use USPS more, the cheaper shipping options went to shit. So I bit the bullet so I wouldn't have to put up with the headache anymore.

Hopefully, you get your copy before the estimated delivery date. That can sometimes happen. It's frustrating as Hell when stores don't stock a movie and Amazon and the courier are taking their sweet time.

The fact some stores didn't stock this at all is a bit ridiculous. A handful of copies in store wouldn't break Best Buy or Targets profit margins.

found it at the other BJs store in my area, that place was packed, I never realize how much business that store does, but me I'm just going to take my free trial for two months, and be done with it.
I'm not a slipcover person, but that one that came with this release is darn nice I must say.

It was re-rated back in 1992 when the first restoration was released theatrically.

I emailed iTunes support about the digital copy, and they gave me 3 free rentals and the email for universal saying they only host what is provided by them and there was no remastered file for that code obviously.

If any German buyers are reading here:

There's a "misprint edition" (some native speaker may feel free to indicate the correct term for this) out there, which is already shipping and unfortunately I received that edition today.

It's the new cover art indicating the 55th Anniversary Edition on the back cover but inside it's still the same old disc from 5 years ago.

I have to stop by Wal-Mart today. You think that by some miracle the new Spartacus disc might be there?
