But that's where modern transfer tech bridges the gap; you'll see much chunkier grain (or as close to grain as the tech could resolve) on an old telecine from an IP than you would on something that's been scanned & oversampled from the neg/IP.

[edit] Ah, from your edit I see we had the same thought.

Of course they had to censor the part where he feeds grapes from his mouth to Nemo`s. Which was an huge influence on the Dio album: Egypt: The Chains are On.
Man George Clooney was great in that role.

I had similiar thoughts on their newest Jaws release.
Be careful, you may get your head bitten off like I did, your not allowed an opinion in this thread. Its Gospel, that this is a perfect remaster, and you are a blasphemer to say otherwise. Its a sad day when you can't express your opinion whether right or wrong.

Until the mods come in and start laying down ban threats, you can express your opinion, and they can express their opinion about your opinion

Yeah, I watched the new restored Spartacus earlier today and it looks 5 x better than Jaws which looks soft and grainless. Universal did good with this one.

That'll be the day you'll get banned for expressing an opinion about a transfer

Universal would not incur any penalty because the cover is not specified "restored" and for the 55th could put what he wants.
However Universal in Europe has lost face
From what I've been reading over at mundodvd, Spanish Blu-ray and DVD forum, the Spanish amaray blu-ray release is the new restored edition, so I'd say its not Universal Europe but Universal Germany and Universal Italy that messed up.

As amazing as the picture looks I'm equally blown away by the sound mix! The mixing of Alex North's score is fabulous!

Received mine in the mail earlier at 2:26pm PDT. Packaging was a bit snug so it had a slight bend to it. More leaning over but not really. Flattening the MINT Slipcover which arrived with it and placed it into a 2-Disc case. Wish it had some full disc label artwork but I figure it's okay with the tan looking thing. Maybe custom disc label but I'm not too bothered.
Glad I own the Restored Edition for only $9.52!
Can't watch it right now since I'll be busy over the next couple days. Just wish I had an ASUS 32" IPS monitor instead of the 23" IPS one I have. Of course I self calibrated it and the HDMI cable is from Monoprice.
Will report later on it.

Jaws is a little on the soft side (which also may have something to do with how it was shot), and yeah Universal did apply some ever so slight filtering, but I think it looks solid.

Haven't seen the restored Spartacus yet, but I expect it would look better.

my guess is that for a fact the organization was chosen as the fast track to Spain, may have helped the title "Espartaco" instead of "Spartacus" and maybe we even touch their disc recycled.

on

You can be derived from the EAN link

In Spain, Universal gave mubis the remastered for comparison with the 50th as advertising strategy, now he says in Germany who did wrong to put the disc inside? but it might not change the disc because it is not written anywhere of cover "remastered"

Less people are buying discs. Limited floor space. Catalog titles don't sell well. That's 3 reasons I can think of.

That's good to know. Out of all the reviewers, I feel Martin Liebman's reviews are too generous on the VIDEO portion. A few years ago he gave NATIONAL LAMPOONS VACATION 4 stars for VIDEO and I would give it 3 at the most. So I've been kinda leery about his reviews ever since. But your comment helps.

It doesn't have any fine detail to my eye and I can't see any grain. For a test I turned the sharpness on my tv up to 100 and I still couldn't see any grain with the exception of the chalkboard scene (which had visible grain while calibrated). There's just something off about it.
