This genre looks wonderful on HD, and it benefits much if properly restored.

We get tons of horror B-movies restored in 2K or 4K, but not many classic epic films!
Films like Barabbas, Land of the Pharaohs, Sodom and Gomorra etc.
Probably because b-movie horror sells much better.

But, agreed.

yeah, I know.
I can imagine how it would be to be a horror fan these days.

Like me in a fantastic world were tons of old epics and generally classic films with stars of the past (Grant, Flynn, Taylor, Hepburn, Hudson, Brando etc.) would be released on Bluray.
Unfortunately horror is one of my least favourite genres.

So the shortest time has been 2 months, and the longest just under 3 years.

MGM are apparently not licensing that one out to any label as they have plans to release it themselves (via Fox). Who knows when that will happen though.

This is completely random, but the cover makes a nice paralel with this one:

In the past they're on top of horses wielding swords. Today, they're on top of modern machinery holding guns

Y'know that looks quite good but I'd've used the retro font used on the Criterion release and the poster. Font-style looks way too new but I love the lay-out.
Will it have all the extras from the Criterion DVD ported over or will Criterion also be releasing their own? Similar to Brazil, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Dazed and Confused, etc. where the Universal carried over their DVD extras from theirselves. But an exception was Do the Right Thing since it has a vast majority of the extras carried over from the LD & DVD CC release.

Looks great since this'll be another release where it'll be safe to buy both the Universal/Insert-Random-Company-Here and Criterion/Ditto since they'll have completely separate bonus features. Much nicer when companies do this so as to have a more complete compilation.

Spartacus Blu-ray

I pre-ordered it and am doing my happy dance which you wouldn't want to see lest you go blind and then not see the restoration quality.

Can't bring myself to dispose of that wonderful Criterion case. Since I don't really like the new art I think I'll just swap discs. Agree with a poster above - the new lettering makes it look like a new film.
