I think my PS3 should be ventilated decently. It sits in a cabinet that has an open back (So the back side is completely open) and the cabinet door is always left open, and there is little/no heat in that space. So I think it should be good. |

Not the protien thing, this I get, it is helping with medical advances.
But the teams, whats the point of having teams? What are the teams for? Is there ever a winner? Why would one join a team that is not in first? Where do you find the team stats? All the different teams i mean. Thanks ![]() Paul |

I find the teams page here to be more informative: http://kakaostats.com/ And the user stats page also has a bit more info and is more interesting to watch: http://kakaostats.com/t.php?t=56895.
I hope everyone is folding 24/7 for the fold-a-thon! Let's get our team 7-day total to break 1 million points! We're currently running at 960,000 points for the last 7 days. It'll be hard with Iceman's box (16-core beast) having been moved over to running blu-ray.com finally, but with all the new members and everyone folding 24/7 maybe we can do it. ![]() ![]() |

2. There is no "winner" in the points race, but we will all be winners when discoveries are made. Stanford has already published a number of peer reviewed papers in respected journals, and the new non-invasive test for prostate cancer has used folding@home results. Every project we complete adds valuable information to the scientific community, freely available to whoever wants to use it. 3. Most people join the team of the forum or other community that they are most involved with. Of course, [H]ardOCP in first place welcomes all comers just as blu-ray.com does. Plus, the first place team has changed a number of times over the years. 4. There are at least three sources of detailed statistics available. Kakao has already been mentioned, and there is also http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...php?s=&t=56895 and http://www.hardfolding.com/index.php?go=1002&tnum=56895 as well as hardfolding's newer version http://www.hardfolding.com/fh_stats_...101&tnum=56895 |

Looking at our current stats, I figure we need about 5 more new members to put us in to the 7 day, 1 millon point range.

Was running on a laptop & I got this (from the text file):
[20:57:09] Writing local files [20:57:09] Completed 384000 out of 400000 steps (96) [21:03:42] CoreStatus = 1 (1) [21:03:42] Client-core communications error: ERROR 0x1 [21:03:42] Deleting current work unit & continuing... [21:04:02] - Preparing to get new work unit... If the laptop dies or something else happens do you really need to start the work unit over again? I don't think I've ever had my PS3 do this before. Seems like a real waste of time for it to get almost all the way through & then it deletes the unit. I'm trying to run this as a service and I don't know also how to use all the cores on this processor. Seems like it runs at 50% most of the time. Anyone else know how to do 100% on the processor? |

Alternately, if you use two regular clients on a dual core, then first make sure CPU usage is set to 100 (as stated above) on each client; then start both clients with the "-local" option; and then go to Windows Task Manager and assign affinity to each one of the fah processes (one for 1st core and another for the second). 1) A new 'beta upgrade' for the Windows SMP client came out last week - 5.92, it installs over 5.9.1. It reportedly helps stability - I installed it and so far so good (although it does seem to be a bit slower per frame than the prior client - if it finishes work units more often I'll take it, and bet you would also ![]() 2) You mention you haven't gotten 100% cpu utlization yet, assume that means across both cores. You also mention you are running it as a service. Had you gotten it working the way you wanted (e.g. 100% utilization across all cores) before running it as a service? If not, I'd suggest doing that. |
