Usually, I do not like to publically criticize other labels, but this debacle was just too much for me to take anymore, and this comment was the last straw.

I went in on them and got blocked. They of course deleted all my comments and went on about the million of dollars they make with their "HBO Shows"

I said something like "Here's the thing, you are creating false scarcity with this release. There's no reason to pull it. You're attempting to be opportunistic and it's really sleazy. And you're being so transparent (stupid) about it. You're talking about keeping some for yourself (obviously to attempt to sell at an inflated price later) YOU ARE THE LABEL. I REPEAT. YOU ARE THE LABEL. Why are you trying to scalp your own product? People aren't stupid. They are seeing this. There's A LOT of collectors that are really turned off by this label now. Nobody wants to dela with a label they don't trust. THEY ARE PLENTY OF TRUSTWORTHY LABELS THAT BREAK THEIR BACK FOR COLLECTORS AND SO MANY TITLES ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP UPDo you think interest and support is going to be the same after this? I wouldn't count on it. I just don't understand how you don't see any of this? Also, I respect Bill Olsen because when he pulls bullshit, he's not so stupid (transparent) about it. He's not like THESE ARE COLLECTORS ITEMS, WE ARE KEEPING A BUNCH! NECROMANCY PRICES! And also, taking credit for making THTV relevant. LOL Get out of my ****ing face. We can thank Blue Underground , Code Red, BFI and Mondo Macabro for introducing his films to a new audience, not you. And to actually be so arrogant and diluted is really quite disturbing. You've really dug yourself a hole here.

They have pretty much blocked anyone that was disagreed with them so the whole Facebook page now is filled with kissasses. They also responded to someone with this:

"Too many complaints about an issue that had nothing to do with the whole point of the releases. Not enough people cared about the drive-in aspect of them"

Did not realize the countdown clock is the whole point of buying a blu ray, not for the actual movies on them. So I guess I don't have to buy any of the other drive in movies since I already got one with that clock on it.

They always harp on that, and I honestly could not give two shits about this drive-in thing. It's a really stupid gimmick and they seem like they are relying on it ALONE to sell discs.

It is a gimmick, but at least more fun of a gimmick than half of the stuff labels try to sell releases with these days. People also posted here that the feature is reason they are buying it.

Personally I like it but I wouldn't rebuy a movie for it and the movies also should be playable without the gimmick otherwise I'd see it as more of a negative than a positive.

Screen archives [emoji16]

I wonder if they will force SAE to pull the listing on 3/24 also or if they will get to sell their 50 copies?

I've heard quite a few people saying they've enjoyed the Drive-in feature and I think that's awesome. It's just not appealing enough for me to buy, considering I already have all the Code Red titles that comprise the second half of the double features.

Yeah that's why I only bought THTV, had the rest and the BRINKvision version of DONT LOOK IN THE BASEMENT looks like a much better double feature than the oddity of pairing it with Chaos - which is also receiving a better release down the road.

There may be some people that are an untapped market the Drive-in feature might appeal to, though, who don't own Code Red discs.

In three months this thread racked up half the views and more replies than the Retromedia thread has gotten in over three years. I'd say its a pretty accurate statement

Hmm encoding error eh? Haven't opened mine yet, hopefully not too noticeable.

It's not the printer. The cover image appears to be as heavily filtered as the film, itself.

Compare this...

I get the feeling there is something more extreme people are talking about, with it looking blurry and what not - like maybe a printing quality control issue.

If really people are just complaining that one image is slightly more filtered than the above as much as I've heard, that's ridiculously nitpicky IMO. Both cover images look excellent above IMO, even if one has a bit of DNR applied. These complaints should be saved for when the label uses a photoshopped floating head abomination for the cover. Also, IMO all the logos and crap on the 88 Films cover is much more distracting than a little filtering, guys pocket is even covered by the banner.

My particular Offerings blu cover print looks just as good as the above image.

I haven't received my offerings yet but I'm pretty sure the people complaining about the cover quality have never seen other Code Red titles. A lot of them look like that and I have no problem with it.

I watched Offerings last night, and I noticed nothing odd about the cover (or back cover) other than its fairly plain and boring, which is a good representation of the agonizingly boring D tier slasher you'll find inside the package.

Did you have any frame skips? There were at least three times where it seemed like it jumped ahead a few frames. This could have been my bluray player as it's been acting strange lately and it didn't really effect the movie. Just caught my eye.

I own plenty of Code Red releases (although not enough in my opinion)

This isn't Code Red though....it's DARK FORCE ENTERTAINMENT!!!!

And yeah there are a few CR releases where the print quality is lacking but there are plenty that look fantastic as well, I don't care honestly, figured I would just point it out. If my comment came off as a complaint I didn't mean to, just an observation.

I wasn't really referencing you. I've been seeing a lot of people on Facebook commenting on the same issue and I'm looking at it and it looks no worse then all of the older Code Red covers

The latest madness on the Dark Force Facebook page implies there's trouble in Code Red paradise:

Quote:
DARK FORCE wants to get rid of two things...CODE RED and THE HOUSE THAT VANISHED. All day long we will be offering you incentives to help achieve this as quickly as possible. Watch for these specials all day long and be sure to MENTION the promotion when ordering. Remember: THE HOUSE THAT VANISHED will no longer be available at the Dark Force online store after midnight on Saturday March 24. Thank you.

I'm thinking maybe Bill no longer wants to be associated with the label?
