I hope all labels are able to create demand, even ones I don't like, even price-gouging Shout Factory, if it is good for the physical media market.
This isn't the type of demand I'm talking about, sweetie. I'm talking about falsely declaring something OOP then "miraculously" finding stock and marking it up. Bill has tried that schtick to varying levels of success but it now seems they're ramping up efforts and attempting to target the more gullible folks out there who don't participate in forums like this.

The type of demand you're talking about is something else. The Abyss is in demand but the studio that controls it doesn't give a shit. OTOH, Cemetery Man is in demand and no one has bothered to license it but thankfully it's rumored to be on Kino's radar. It's funny - film companies/studios are the only businesses with products that are in demand which they don't want to exploit. Crazy

I wasn't knocking your pricing on BBNM. I get it. I don't have to like it but I get it. I already secured my copy of BBNM when Diabolik had it.

Simply trying to bring some balance to the thread by pointing out a couple of labels engaging in similar pricing of rare/OOP releases.

Looking forward to picking up some releases next week.

Bill took Necromancy off the market cause 5 people complained about it and now he's allowing you to scalp it. Call it what you want but you are now a SCALPER.
It is "technically" impossible for a person to be scalping, if they have been enlisted by the original label to sell as an intermediary, on their behalf. While, in this case, the original label's chief processor of orders is physically unable to handle that job right now, were he in perfect health, he would still have the right to subcontract. Hate the price, that's fine. Be angry about the sold-out/not-sold-out issue, also fine. Blame DD? That is just a waste of air, or in this case finger tapping.

If they do show up, they should be sold by DF, as they are certainly doing their part by handling SB and SA and loyalty of a business associate, like you are seeing there, can be very difficult to find.

An item can be OOP and still have copies in the possession of the original label. OOP means no more will be printed. Sold out, well, that means sold out. Yes, Bill has said "sold out" and found more. I tend to think that is a product of being one man running a business that needs three men to do the job. Remember, he doesn't have a separate inventory manager. If he did, all the old titles would have sold out via an Az store or via his own store, years ago.

The Abyss is owned by a studio that cares so much, the employees are practically in revolt over the continued business arrangement with the now hated James Cameron. They aren't just angry because of all of the phone calls and emails and even letters they have to field. Many of the Fox employees actually genuinely love film and want to see True Lies and The Abyss released as much as I do, at least that is what they continue to tell me. I have written on my interactions with them in the official board, if you wish to know more.

As to Cemetery Man, the uncut release was wonderful. Getting that released in America will be difficult. Most fans only want it, if it is uncut. If Kino releases it, my bet is that it will not be the full version.

The popular retailer I was referring to is not Dark Force Superstore. So, they'll be for sale at a non-inflated price

Not closed, just merged and moved to either the Trading forum or the General Chat section. On second thought, closing them down sounds better

I'm not aware of any other retailer treating Bill as well as DF. Diabolik and Az won't sell all of his titles, without some restrictions. He's complained about others. Who would you think should sell off the rest of the Washington Wheelchair People Bathroom, if not DF?

Yup. But, in truth, I really would like to see it be DF, when more stock hits stores, as it were. I think CR and DF are a good fit, when it comes to joining forces, in the mine field of releasing cult films.

You want the price of the disc to be $50 instead of $30?

I think, given the hysteria, it is likely that, were Bill and DD to discuss DF selling some of Bill's storage hoard, a reasonable price would be set on titles and they really would be sold to the point of selling out.

I would need advanced warning, so I could sit in front of the screen, and the site might need that blocking technology, that keeps more than one person from adding one specific copy to their cart, for the hour it would take to select and check out.

Posted back in November:

We watched both tonight.

Project: Kill - Seeing Leslie Nielsen play a non-comedic role was enjoyable (it seems all I've seen him do since 1980 were parodies). Overall a pretty good "shot in Manilla" action flick. Wife liked this movie over Cop Killers.

Cop Killers - Pretty wild ride. Notable characters, for me, were the Ice Cream Man and the Hippie (drug/cash go-between) and his 2 girls. Some nudity. Two drug dealers leave a string of dead bodies from US-Mexico border to the hippie's cabin in the desert. Fair amount of tension and suspense.

Quality is pretty decent. Has a grindhouse feel (stray hairs, scratches, pops) -> nothing outrageous to take away from the movie. No waxing or artifacts. Maybe a minor jump or two in both movies. [Was into the movies and not taking notes ]

Not sure if that sells it for you, but I don't regret buying it or watching it.

Only 12 if bought in the 5 blu set. Buy with a friend and split them up, you get a really good deal on those, so the quality isn't as important. It can be bought for enjoyment, rather than perfection. Thank you for posting that again.

Of all the big mistakes I've made in my life, I fear waiting to pull the trigger on the Blu-ray of FREEWAY 2: CONFESSIONS OF A TRICK BABY will have the gravest long-term consequences on my soul.
