I started to join the club but I saw the added tax was 10%. That's a bit more than my state's tax rate. Is that the rate in California?

Did you get to the payment screen where you enter address etc? Until you get there it assumes you live in CA. The tax may disappear or lower on a later screen

Thanks for the advice Ruined. I didn't go that far when I saw the 10% tax but when I continued the tax was removed. I'm now a member. I hope it turns out well.

The success of this subscription model depends on a level of solvency, reliability, attention to detail, and consistency of output so far beyond anything that DF has ever exhibited that buying into it would be like investing in a technology that harnesses the power of unicorns to turn lead into gold.

But we are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams, amirite?

Success pretty much just requires shipping 24 releases and the bonus items to the people that sign up, but okay.

Yeah, follow through only requires follow through. That's a profound observation.

Yeah it requires sticking a couple of discs in a padded envelope and mailing it for a list of customers on no particular timetable other than sometime during the month. Not exactly rocket science.

The option to pay a higher price per release and get the release later than others will still be available for those that don't believe dark force can pack and send a package.

The announcement for it said when those titles get pulled, you won't have to worry cause you'll already have them!

Yeah it would be a disaster if one got a disc with a glitch on it and got pulled as a result. Oh wait,

https://www.ebay.com/itm/274309295631

That one disc is nearly half the price of the membership now!

Heres one that just sold for $63 shipped:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164119711200

And for reference , Arrow still has many more discs with unfixed glitches on them than Dark Force does, so this fear is completely unfounded unless you don't buy Arrow discs.

Lol one dude selling 2 copies that might not even sell. Nice. Did Arrow ever refuse to sub dialog on one of their foreign films?

How about this one confirmed sold for $63 shipped?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164119711200

Arrow messed up the subtitling on US version of The Happiness of the Katakuris , using UK dialect in American English subs for a movie definitely not set in the UK and that makes no sense for US market. Never fixed.

why do you equate value on the consumer market as justification for not just fixing corrected discs instead of flat-out pulling the release?

why am i even bothering to entertain this with you when we all know debating with you is like farting into the wind?

Lol way less expensive than the other one. So they subbed the entire movie then. Thanks.

Very simple

You are claiming there is financial risk in spending money on the membership if you get a glitched disc. The cost of each disc is $16.66 in the sub. If you can sell the gltiched disc for $50 - $150 you will actually make a significant profit , not lose money, due to the scarcity of the disc.

Hence no financial risk if there is a glitched disc.

so you think it's perfectly okay for a distributor to sell you a bad product and not send out corrected discs because hey, maybe you can sell it on ebay? that's really the argument you're pursuing here?

In terms of financial risk of subscribing, definitely.
