While we rarely do it, I think it's absolutely commendable for DF to be releasing GOD'S BLOODY ACRE on Blu, despite the condition of the print. Hopefully whatever scratch reduction software that was used won't introduce artifacting. As far as I know, there's no such thing as 'scratch removal DNR' so Dave may be confusing DNR and DVO (Digital Vision Optics), which makes popular restoration software that, among other things, can be used on scratch reduction.

Why is it so hard to realize that just cause something is on eBay for $35, it does not make it worth 35? Obviously there are people out there who don't frequent these forums and Facebook and search only places like Amazon and Best Buy for titles and when they don't see them assume they're oop and will wind up spending he ridiculous eBay prices on them. The majority of people that actual follow the label know where they can buy them for regular prices (screen archives). Plus this title won't be worth shit in a couple of months when VS release there release from the original negative.

The DVD looks fantastic. The Blu-ray isn't an upgrade. I know, I own both. Save $ and buy the DVD.

If you have a DVD phobia like many on this site, I suggest you pay the $50 for the BD. It's an awesome flick.

My packaging has been good for me, but a Canadian terrorist friend ordered some titles and they were wrapped in some sort of brown paper bag, with only cardboard pieces to separate the titles and no bubble wrap and it showed up with 4/6 cases shattered. I think he was afraid to email them because they would call him out on their Facebook or something lol. He was genuinely concerned and never addressed the issue. I know it’s only cases and most have multiple extras. It’s good, but seems like they were under packaged for the long journey to the terrorist nation. He sent me pictures snd the packaging was super bizarre. Like something you’d see bricks of heroin wrapped in

If I stated my love for the Drive-In series here as much as I would like I think even I would be considered a shill. That collection is one of the best things that DF has going for them, I don't collect the single titles but I love the Retro Double Features and will support every one of their release in that collection. I can even except somewhat cut versions of movies and even a less than stellar print because that is what true Grindhouse/Drive-In was.

You didn't know what version of a movie you might get when you went and to me that is part of the charm of that series. I have said this before on their facebook page I believe but to me as a drive-in/grindhouse movie fan this series is better than Criterion. I would say the exact same thing if VinSyn or Synapse or any other indie cult label was releasing a drive-in series. I love the idea of it and when executed correctly it is a fun and enjoyable way to waste 3 hours on a Friday or Saturday with the wife and no kids around.

Its all relative. A lot of people would say no blu ray is worth more than $10 because they feel its outdated by streaming. But if a title regularly sells for $35 its fair to assume the perceived value is around $35 for those interested. Ebay even suggests the price to list at when listing by analyzing past sold listings trends.

These niche cult Blu Rays are monstrously expensive. I was at target the other day and John Wick 1 & 2 were like $13 dollars each for 4k UHD discs.

Just about all other 4k UHDs are $19.99 each. All for brand new polished billion dollar budget movies.

Paying $35 for an old, forgotten, tattered and stained $5 dollar movie layered with candle wax is pretty outrageous.

That is actually very true toaster but it doesn't mean it's only worth $15 either. A lot of people do refer to Ebay to check prices so it can definitely have a bearing on the value of something but not definitive. And as far as that last statement, let's see VS release GOD'S BLOODY ACRE from the original negative.

Well Mr. Damonstein if you showed The Carrier to any lay person I guarantee you they would say it looks great too. It's only these fanatical collector's that feel it should be very grainy for it to look great. But what would you rather have, a little less grain or a bunch of white dots that look like it was snowing out? I understand Blu Titan's opinion on it and I can respect that but I think it more comes down to how collector's want it to be. And I also can respect that. The Carrier wasn't part of the Dark Force line and in the future Dark Force will NOT use the DNR process on anything if the end result is the less grainy or "waxy" look.
Secondly Fotokem billed us for GOD'S BLOODY ACRE and on the invoice had DNR when it was actually DRS which is sometimes referred to as the former. We did have to do some homework regarding the restoration process but coming from a film making background that involved much more complex post production on movies that sold all over the world we caught on very quickly. Trust me restoration is NOT more complicated than post production on 35mm features of digitally shot ones.
Lastly nobody used Sage or Roger Ebert's death to promote anything.
